ArchiMate 2.0
A Step Towards A Common Language
Copyright (C) The Open Group 2011
Synopsis
The Open Group created ArchiMate® 2.0 as an open and independent
modelling language for enterprise architecture (EA). The standard offers a
common language for describing the construction and operation of business processes, organisational structures, information flows, IT systems, and technical infrastructure.
At this month’s EA Forum, Michelle van den Berg will discuss ArchiMate 2.0 and
how it complements existing notations and standards; specifically BPMN, UML
and TOGAF

ArchiMate 2.0 and BPMN 2
 Language vs notation
 Not competing, but complementing
Use ArchiMate for high level process definition
Use BPMN for the detailed description of process flows, with elements such as detailed activities, their sequencing, parallel or alternative paths.
