CELTA Pre-interview Task
These tasks must be completed and submitted before an interview can proceed. Please keep a copy of this task for reference during the interview.
We would like you to complete the tasks in the following way:1. Firstly, try to answer the questions using your own intuitions and ideas.2. Then, if you wish, refer to dictionaries, grammar reference books or teaching methodology books to
check your ideas. The following are required reading during the course and may be useful:
Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English for Advanced Learners An A-Z of English Grammar and Usage by Geoffrey Leech The Practice of English Language Teaching by Jeremy Harmer (methodology)
NB. For many of the questions you will not find explicit statements in reference materials which provide you with neat answers. Don’t worry - use your common sense and don’t dismiss an idea because you think it seems too simple. The most obvious features of language can be easily over-looked but it is very important for a teacher to be aware of them. You may type or handwrite but please respect upper / lower case conventions.
