**** La especie Cynanthus latirostris se considera semiendémica del suroeste de México, pero residente en época de reproducción para Tamaulipas.
La subespecie Branta canadensis leucopareia , que se encuentra incluida en el Apendice I de CITES (2012.2), tiene distribución en el estado de Tamaulipas y acorde a eBird (2013) se tienen registros
relativamente cerca de la zona de estudio, por tanto, se incluye a esta dentro de este listado potencial.
A pesar de que en los mapas de distribución de eBird (2013) la subespecie Athene cunicularia hypugaea , que en la NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 se encuentra bajo protección especial (Pr), no presenta
registros en la zona de estudio, se incluyó como subespecie de potencial avistamiento pues acorde a Horloyd (en Wellicom 1997) durante el invierno Tamaulipas (junto con Chihuahua, Coahuila y Veracruz)
es uno de los estados de la República Mexicana a los cuales puede llegar.
Cuando Escalante y cols., (1998) elaboraron el listado de nombres comunes Baeolophus atricristatus era considerado una subespecie de B. bicolor por ello el nombre en español para ambos es el mismo.
