Becauseofitshighenergyvalueandlowenvironmentalemissionswhenburned, itisincreasinglyafuelofchoiceforheatinghomes, generatingelectricityandfuelingindustry. In fact, natural gas provides aquarter of all energy consumed in theU.S., making it a vital component ofour domestic energy supply. And, as aclean, abundant efficient and versatileresource,naturalgaswillincreasinglybeafuelofchoiceforthefuture.Naturalgasproduces45percentlesscarbondioxide(C02)thancoaland30percentlessthanoil when burned. That’s an importantdistinction as we tackle the dualchallenge of meeting increased energydemand while reducing the amount ofcarbonreleasedintotheenvironment.
