8 Support for SAN switches—selected models from the following suppliers ● Brocade ● Cisco MDS, Nexus ● McDATA ● Qlogic
9 Storage Pool Utilization The following are best practices for maximum storage pool utilization levels: ● Performance (Snapshot) pool 75% ● Primary pool 80% ● Dedup pool 85% It is recommended to keep utilization below these numbers to allow sufficient space for ongoing operations. Note that with inband physical applications the space utilized in the performance / snapshot pool can increase even when no new backups are performed, and this is most noticeable when there is substantial write I/O to the production disks. Actifio CDS utilizes Copy On Write (COW) snapshots and therefore as production blocks change the old blocks are copied into the snapshot pool as a part of the Copy On Write process. The snapshot pool will grow based on the data change rate in production and snapshot retention time.
