Capacity Mass Transport Route (HCMTR)
from Kokane Chowk to Swaraj Garden was
scrutinized by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal
Corporation’s Former Commissioner Rajeev
Jadhav.
Four months after former Municipal Com-
missioner Rajeev Jadhav presented the draft
budget in which a high capacity tram service,
mono rail or a light rail were suggested as
mass transit projects. The PCMC is working on
a plan to have one of the three projects on a
30-m wide circular high capacity mass transit
route with the distance of 29km.
During the presentation of the Rs 3, 982
crore draft budget for 2016-17, a tram service
was one of the ideas tabled by Jadhav. He had
said that if the tram project materializes, Pim-
pri Chinchwad may become the first city in the
State to have such a facility in modern times.
In Rahatani and Kokane Chowk, the length of
the HCMTR project is two kilometre and width
is 30 metre. Various entertainment mediums
are included in this project for all age groups.
According to the officials, around 35% of
the land is reserved for high-capacity transit.
The 29km-stretch passes from Bhakti Shakti
Chowk, Tata’s material gate in Chinchwad,
Rose Garden in Nehrunagar, Nashik Phata,
Kokane Chowk, Rahatni, Thergaon, Walheka-
rwadi and later to Spine Road to reach Bhakti
