Once upon a time there was a small village. In that village everyone was happy because the people had enough food to eat as they had enough water to grow their crops
And the children had enough clean water to drink and bathe.
And the cows that gave them milk had enough water to drink….
The potter made his pots using water ..the weaver coloured his cloth using
water...And they all used water which they drew up from pumps.
And the water in the pumps came from many hundreds of feet below the ground …
This water that lies many feet below the ground is called GROUNDWATER
The village kept drawing this water up, until one day, it was all over!!
And can you guess what happened then …
The people of the village were very sad now
… so they went looking for ways to bring
back the water
Can you guess what they did to bring back the water?
The villagers were told that they had to harvest or collect the rain water.
This is called
RAIN WATER HARVESTING
The Village decided to catch the
falling rain and put it back into the
ground
By recharging bore wells
Then they tied
a wire mesh
around the bore
well pipe after
making holes in
the pipe for the
water to go
through
After the
percolation pit is
prepared and the
bore well tube
covered with wire
mesh, they filled
the pit with sand
and rubble
Recharge of bore
wells brings back a
smile to many faces
and the village is
happy once more.
Once the bore well
was functional, the
villagers had
access to water for
drinking, cooking &
all other purposes.
And the people
in the village
are helping
others learn
about rainwater
harvesting
Awareness program for
tribal communities and villages
using bore well
