Why should your child attend CCA?
Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) play a key role in his/her
holistic development.
Apart from his/her school academic work and the
enrichment activities, his/her CCA provides him/her with
a platform to deepen/develop his/her interests and
talents.
It enables him/her to lead an active and meaningful
school life, comprising of a well balanced mix of
academic and co-curricular activities.

Recognition of Students’ Level
of Attainment in CCA At the end of the graduating year, students’ co-curricular
attainment will be recognised according to
Excellent/Good/Fair.
The level of attainment will be converted to a bonus
point(s) which can be used for admission to Junior
Colleges/ Polytechnics/ Institutes of Education
(JC/Poly/ITE).
A high level of co-curricular attainment will also highlight
the all-roundedness of the student, on top of his/her
academic excellence.

Recognition of Students’ Level of
Attainment in CCA
Co-Curricular Attainment Details
Excellent
(2 bonus points)
Student who attains a minimum Level 3 in all four domains with
at least a Level 4 in one domain.
Good
(1 bonus point)
Student who attains a minimum Level 1 in all four domains with
any one of the following:
i. At least Level 2 in three domains;
ii. At least Level 2 in one domain and at least Level 3 in
another domain; or
iii. At least Level 4 in one domain.
Fair
(No bonus point)
Student’s attainment in co-curricular will not translate into any
bonus points.

CCA POLICY IN ADSS

CCA Policy CCA participation in school is compulsory for all students
in secondary schools.
The attendance rate for participation will be based on the
attendance of the main CCA. Students are expected to
attain at least 75% attendance rate every year.
Students are strongly encouraged to remain in the same
CCA throughout secondary school as CCA programmes
are designed to be progressive.

CCA Policy Absence from CCA is regarded seriously and students must
produce a Medical Certificate for any absence from CCA
sessions. Letters from parents are accepted on a case by case
basis but the absence will be counted against the student’s
attendance rate.
Medical certificates and/or letters from parents must be
submitted to the CCA teacher in charge by the next school day
after the day of absence.
Absence from CCA without valid reasons is considered as
truancy from school activities.
Demerit points will be issued to students for absence from
CCA without valid reasons provided.

CCA Policy Any requests for a change of CCA will be assessed on a
case by case basis by the school management.
Any requests for a change can only be made at the
beginning of each academic year through the Head of
Department (HOD) for PE & CCA.

CCA Days in ADSS
CCAs are usually conducted on Wednesdays and Fridays
of each week.
All CCAs sessions will be mandatory on every
Wednesday.
CCAs may conduct a 2nd session on Fridays.
Some CCAs preparing intensively for competitions may
conduct a 3rd session on non-CCA days prior to the
competitions.

Wednesday Mandatory CCA Day
All CCAs sessions will be mandatory on every
Wednesday i.e.
CCA is part of the curriculum timetable on
Wednesday.
All students must stay on in school after the last
lesson which ends at 2.10 pm.
Report to respective CCAs by 3.00 pm.
No students will be allowed to leave the school
compound after the last lesson unless written
permission has been obtained from the CCA
teachers, HOD PE & CCA and/or school leaders.

• Take reference from the CCA Profiling Report and child’s experience through the CCA Experience programmes.

CCA Allocation
• Students will not be guaranteed their first choice of CCA.
• Students will be allocated a CCA based on interest and strength of each student.
• A trial/interview/aptitude test may be required for over-subscribed CCAs.

CCA Confirmation
• Students and parents/guardian will be informed of their official CCA allocated to them by 8th Feb 2019, Fri.
• All CCA trainings for Sec Ones will start officially from 13th Feb 2019, Wed onwards.
• Any appeals needs to be submitted in writing to Mr Kelvin Goh (HOD PE & CCA) by 15th Feb 2019, Fri.
• All appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
