STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Minister forIndustries and Commerce,Chander Prakash Ganga onSunday visited shelling hitvillages in border areas ofSamba District and tookstock of the situation there.

A high level team of districtadministration led by DeputyCommissioner, Shetal Nandaaccompanied the minister.The minister took detailedreview of the situation andpreparedness of the adminis-tration to deal with the emer-gency situation includingarrangements for rescue,relief and providing prompthealthcare in case of injury.

Minister visited border vil-lages of Mahal Shahan,Ramloo and Ramgarh ofVijaypur Constituency totake stock of the situation inthe backdrop of repeatedceasefire violation andshelling from across the bor-der. He also interacted withdisplaced border residentsputting up at Relief Campestablished in Radha SwamiSat Sang ghar Thandi Khui.

While interacting with

affected families, the ministerassured them all necessaryhelp from the governmentand directed civil administra-tion and police to be vigilantin the vulnerable areas andimmediately respond at timesof border shelling.

He also directed concernedofficers to remain present intheir respective jurisdictionsto deal with any emergencysituation. He directed thelocal administration toremain prepared for promptaction in case of any exigency.

Ganga asked people to

remain vigilant and alsoadvised the villagers to stayindoors and at shift to saferplaces during cross bordershelling.

Speaking before huge rallyon the zero line onInternational Border, formerMinister Manjit Singh saidthat the Govt has failed to dealwith present situation on theborder which has compelledresidents to abandon theirhouses.

"Sitting in AC rooms, youcannot judge what the situa-tion border residents havebeen facing. The Govt mustcome on the ground and livewith the Pak firing victims, "said Manjit Singh.

icy as well. "Weak foreign poli-cies of Union Govt lead toheated borders where innocentpeople facing failure of theGovt. There was a need to endborder tension with dialogueor one to one fight with theenemy if she (Pakistan) fails tounderstand," he mentioned.

Manjit Singh said borderpeople have been left to sufferdue to poor Govt in Centre andthey should resign in the inter-est of India because they have

failed to save lives of the peopleand defend the country.

He said that the governmentshould give five Marla piece ofland at the safer places to theborder residents so that theycan live their during the daysof hostility. He appealed thegovernment to five befittingreply to Pakistan and silencetheir guns. He said that thereshould be a comprehensiveplan for the border residents inview of present crises.

According to the order issued, Inspector Ajay Bhat,SHO Police Station Dharamkund has been transferredand posted at District Police Line (DPL) Ramban, whileInspector Anuroop Sharma from DPL Ramban to PoliceStation Ramsoo as SHO.

Inspector Sohail Rashid, SHO Police Station Ramsoohas been transferred and posted at Police StationDharamkund as SHO, while SI Mukhtayar has beentransferred from DPL Ramban and posted as InchargePolice Post Ukhral.

Drug peddler held with500 grams Charas

STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Police on Sunday arrested a drug paddler andrecovered 500 grams Charas from his possession.

According to a report, on a specific information a teamled by SHO Doda Bishnesh Kumar and SI AshiqHussain laid a Naka at Akram Abad area and appre-hended a person, who was roaming in suspicious circum-stances. On his search, police team recovered 500 gramsof Charas from his possession.

The accused was identified as Rashid Hussain son ofAbdul Majeed Shah resident of Sadeeqabad Doda and acase vide FIR No 201/2017 under section 8/20 NDPSAct was registered at Police Station Doda.

Therehad been a long outstand-ing demand for a commonplace from the ex-service-men for organising centralwelfare activities such asmedical camp, mobile can-teen, meets and transitfacility for local populacemoving from one village toanother. In the secondphase cleanliness drive wascarried out in the entire collegecampus. NSS volunteerscleaned all the drains andlawns of the college with greatzeal and enthusiasm.

They further cleaned vari-ous class rooms and laborato-ries of the college. Other staffmembers who took active partin the programme were ProfAjay and Dr Sarvjeet Singh.

Army facilitates cataractsurgeries for needy

STATE TIMES NEWS SURANKOTE: With an aimto improve health care statusof the remote areas of PoonchDistrict, army had organised acataract screening camp atSurankote and Daraba fromJul 4 to July 6, 2017. In all70 patients from Bafliaz andsurrounding villages, whowere suffering from cataracthave been identified for treat-ment.

Army is now in the processof facilitating the cataract sur-geries of these patients. In thisongoing process, ten cataractsurgeries were conducted fromSep 17 to 20, 2017 atGovernment Medical College,Jammu. The surgeries wereperformed by Dr DineshGupta, HoD OpthalmologyDept, a renowned ophthalmol-gist in Jammu. In the comingdays, operation of the balancepatients will be conducted in aphased manner.
