INTRODUCTION
Welcome to our Third Annual Online Auction
We welcome all our friends and Hereford enthusiasts back for our 3rd Annual Online Sale. For those that are
new to our breed let me assure you we have been breeding Hereford cattle for over 30 years now. This
spring marked our 27th consecutive contribution to the Vanderhoof All Breeds Bull Sale and 13th trip to sell
at the Williams Lake Bull Sale. We have sold females at the Yellowhead Sale in Prince George, BC from
1996 to 2005 and then at the Evergreen Sale in Abbotsford up to 2009. The Online format has been working
well for us and we hope to have many more of these sale.
The biggest news at our house in the last year was having our daughter Jamie move home with her partner
Bill. Jamie went off to Olds Collage six years ago, completed her diploma in Beef Management, then went to
work in the feedlot industry. She rode pens for tthree years and spent the last year managing a cattle opera-
tion for a land developer. She and Bill bring enthusiasm and new knowledge back to a family operation where
my Dad still puts in a full days work at the age of 82. “Learning from Grandpa and Dad” has long been a tradi-
tion here with Jamie being the sixth generation on this Ranch. Jamie and Bill are both keen to carry on with
the Registered Hereford herd and it’s great to be able work on this transition over time.
Our son Dane is entering his last year of Veterinary Medicine at WCVM, Saskatoon this fall so hopefully after
a few years of practice he will return to take over my practice and we can concentrate even more on raising
good useful Hereford cattle for our customers.
Calving this year went very well after a most successful breeding season in 2011. Of the 34 calves hitting the
ground in Tlell this spring, 27 were AI sired, 4 were from Embryo transplant and only 3 were from our natural
sires. With lots of early born heifer calves we are able to offer a top cut of these in this years sale.
In the month of July twenty-five foreign Hereford
breeders visited our Ranch either before or after
the World Hereford event and we had a most
enjoyable and successful trip to the 16th World
Hereford Conference National Cattle Show at
Olds, AB. Our cattle were well received and we
even brought home a banner ! Five of the cattle
in our show string are in this sale. We were also
able to renew friendships from around the world
as well as make a few new ones.
This fall we are also excited to be consigning
eight Hereford bulls to the Canadian Hereford
Associations Net Feed Efficiency trials at Cattle-
land’s and OIds College. We believe this venture into genomics and net feed efficiency is the way to help so-
lidify Herefords as a cornerstone breed in the Canadian cattle industry. We also relish the chance to put our
genetics on trial alongside other Hereford breeders from across Canada.
This sale includes some very powerful packages which will be heard from in the future. It is your opportunity
to add some proven genetics with a bull purchase or diversify your cow families by adding a Tlell matron.
Whatever your choice, we are confident that you will be pleased and most importantly, these cattle will work
for you ! As an added attraction, Jamie and Bill are offering two of their working ranch horses in this sale.
Don & Leslie
Craig says ;
It is a pleasure for me to welcome you to Don &
Leslie’s Third Internet Production Sale. I can attest
this is the finest offering to date.
Don purchased a breeding share in RVP Star 533P
CAN-AM ET 57U when he was offered as a calf in
the River Valley Production Sale. What a tremen-
dous breeding job he has done on the island. His
progeny offered in this sale are definitely front pas-
ture and will be some of the finest young females of-
fered for sale anywhere this year.
There are a couple of young sire prospects for your
appraisal. Zulu 1Z was shown at the World Here-
ford Conference where he was kicked up by many.
Several overseas breeders expressed an interest in
getting semen. This calf could be a rare find. He has
the documentation we are all striving to find, yet still has the growth and performance to draw your attention.
His mother is an absolute gem, did a great job on her first attempt and is a feature in this sale.
The yearling heifers are the strongest group to date. These heifers are grown out and developed to their poten-
tial. Remember, these heifers are raised on strictly a forage ration. They make wonderful mothers and come
to you with confirmed breeding dates.
The two yearling herd sires offered are very interesting. Tlell 20W Hold ‘Em 30Y is a son of Super Dude
20W, who was the Rancher’s Choice winner at Northlands Farmfair in 2010. He has the great Beyond daugh-
ter, Kema 8S, for a mother.
The Reload son, Fully Loaded 8Y, is an impressive and stout beast. He offers great length, a big hip, and he
was exhibited at the World Hereford Conference. His mother, Ragamuffin 22R, is also the dam of the Explo-
sive bull now owned by Clay Enterprises.
The Richardson consignment comes from a no-nonsense, beautiful cow herd where strong mothering ability
and quality udder structure are of the essence. The past sales have seen the purchasers receive tremendous val-
ue for their investment.
Take advantage of Don’s delivery policy. I have recently seen the cow herd and this sale offering. I would be
pleased to discuss them in detail with you, and also brag a little about the fishing.
AUCTION GUIDELINES
Welcome to the Richardson Ranch 3rd Annual Online Auction. Again this year we are using LiveAuctions.TV to make the process smoother
and more secure. Please read the following instructions and if you have any trouble or questions, be sure to give us a call a t 250-557-4348 or email
us at [email protected]
RICHARDSON RANCH 3rd ANNUAL ONLINE AUCTION DATES AND TIMES
The auction is set to open for bids at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time on Wednesday, September 12th, 2012 with the internet gavel com-
ing down on the first lot at 6:00 p.m. PDST Monday, September 17th, 2012. We will then proceed to sell one lot at a time, with the lot going to the
highest bidder when no further bidding has occurred in 45 seconds since the last bid. A sale order will be posted 9:00 AM Monday September 17.
If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. Due to some folks com-
puters and their internet connection I would stress that you use the maximum proxy bid feature if you really want a lot. If your computer takes time
to refresh the screen when you are making a crucial bid you may be disappointed and loss the animal to a lessor bid.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. To do this go to the LiveAuctions website,
www.liveauctions.tv, and select Richardson Ranch 3rd Annual Online Auction. After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up auto-
matically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number”. This form requires you to f ill out your banks name, city,
province, phone number and a contact. You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not in-
stantaneous so please plan ahead.
HOW THE AUCTION WORKS
Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid. You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID.
There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy
bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”.
No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public. Each time you login, the auction screen will display your per-
sonal bidding information. Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. Remember that you must have the lot
that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy (automatic) bid set-
tings as applicable.
WHAT IS A PROXY BID?
With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system auto-
matically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. This means that
you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also
greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding.
Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else
can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf,
using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as neces-
sary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”.
But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid.

Tanya 22x may be the best two year old we have ever raised. She drew a lot of attention at the WHC show
where her calf placed second in class and the pair placed directly behind WLB and Hirschie. This cow has a
very moderate frame size and yet had the biggest calf in her class. Tanya 3Z is arguably the pick of the Heifer
calves when you place her beside her mom. Sweet fronted, feminine, angular, big topped and big hipped and
plenty of udder folds. She is not an over fat show heifer and should make a very competitive young cow in the
years to come.

A Reload heifer from the Garrison 9G who was bred by Copper Creek Ranch when they were still
Little Campbell Acres. She goes back to Don Eggertson’s Pondmaker donor dam.
This heifer is typical of our Reloads, long necked, long spined and very clean up front. She has
loads of pigment in both eyes and should drop a terrific udder for her new owner. Reloads latest
Milk epd went above +30 with over .70 accuracy.

This bred heifer is out of our Tanya cow family. They all trace back to Saddle-Valley Tanya 125E
which we purchased from their dispersal. Tanya 31U has produced two daughters including our
Tlell Offshore two year old we showed at WHC, mother of the Lot #5 Can-Am heifer calf and this
good daughter from the Super-Dude bull. This pedigree combines a lot of super stars with Patriot,

A member of our Willa Cow family, this pedigree traces to a strong Klondike cow family we bought
into at the Saddle-Valley Dispersal Sale. Her mother has been a very good producer and is one of
those easy keeping cows who just quietly gets it done year after year. Her first heifer sold to XTC
Herefords, Lethbridge while Erik Spady, DeRoche bought the second one. I expect this heifer will

Drover is a 2006 sorrel AQHA gelding; he stands at 15.0 hands high. He has a body and
mind that was built to work. He has a large gas tank on him, point him and he will go any-
where without hesitation. He has an extremely likable disposition, he is always the first one
to come and meet you at the gate; he wants to be caught and wants to go to work.
Drover loads and trailers with ease. He has excellent feet, small strong dark hooves, we use
him bare foot and is well mannered to trim. Drover ties solid and ground ties, he neck reins,
side passes and collects up nicely when asked. We have used him as a pack horse, he
stands solid to be packed for any size of a load, and nothing fazes him. He has been roped
off of and has been used to doctor calves. He has a great turn around; a solid stop and fluid
transitions. He’s good with gates, crosses water, jumps logs, and goes through mud and
thick bushes. Drover has a ground eating walk; he likes to get out and go to work.
We bought “Drover” almost two years ago from his breeder while we were working in north-
ern Alberta. At that time he only had 15 rides on him, since then he has seen many miles,
miles of new country and miles of sweaty saddle pads. This little prospect has a tremendous
foundation under him now and is ready to go and be finished in any area you choose.

Drover’s pedigree screams working cow horse! With multiple world champions in his back
ground it is no wonder why we see so much potential in him. We believe he can go in al-
most any direction you choose, take him and go to work on your ranch, or take him in a
competitive direction; we believe he will excel as a heel horse, or a competitive team pen-
ner with further training. An intermediate rider would suit this horse quit well, he is very
safe and level headed, just give him a purpose and he is happy. Leave him for 5 days or 5
months and he is the same horse every time you step on.

Vaquero Cadillac “Timber” is a 1999 Appendix AQHA gelding. He
stands 16.2 h.h. He is thick and muscular with
solid size 2 feet under him.
Timber has been the top horse in our work
string for the last 5 years. I can’t say enough
good things about this big man. Anyone from
2 – 102 years old can ride him, he adapts to fit
each person and each job he’s doing.
He is a fully finished bridle horse; you can ride
him in anything from a large ported spade to a
rope halter, he is light and responsive no
matter what he is in.
He is a “been there, done that” horse. You
name it he has done it;
Worked on multiple feedlots and
ranches for the past 5 years.
He is a fully patterned barrel horse.
Has drug calves at many brandings.
Sturdy ranch rope horse that has been
used to doctor all types of cattle from
calves to bulls.
He has been a great “snub horse” while
training younger horses and has shown
all the attributes of being a top pick up
horse.
He has been exposed to everything you
can think of, he has no vices and is great
with kids.
This big guy is in the prime of his life.
He deserves respect and the very best

Heifer bull at Tlell for 2012
Payment: We will contact all winning bids and arrange payments as soon after the closing
date as possible. We accept Visa, MasterCard, bank transfers or certified cheque. Payment
is expected in Canadian dollars before cattle are shipped off the island. Each animal pur-
chased becomes the property of the buyer 24 hours after we have notified you of your win-
ning bid and we advise you to acquire insurance on your purchases.
Delivery of cattle: We will be selling all the cattle FOB Vanderhoof and we will be giving a
cash discount of $100 a head for cattle picked up at our Ranch in Tlell. FOB Vanderhoof
means we will trailer, at our cost, all the cattle sold, to Vanderhoof where there are several
commercial options available for you to move your new purchase to all parts of Canada. De-
pending on the situation we may also be able to offer delivery at cost to areas beyond
Vanderhoof with our own stock trailer. We will have all animals brand inspected and provide
shipping manifests issued at our expense prior to delivery of your purchases to trucking
companies in Vanderhoof and we will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery
from Vanderhoof to your Ranch.
Genetic Defects: All the cattle in this sale have been DNA tested for Idiopathic Epilepsy, Di-
luter and Hypotrichosis and found to be negative or are negative by pedigree .
Guarantee: All cattle are guaranteed to meet the “Terms and Conditions” as mandated by
the Canadian Hereford Association on their “Agreement of Sale” as posted on the here-
ford.ca web page.
Semen testing: Both yearling bulls past a Breeding Soundness Exam last spring and have
bred successfully at Tlell this past breeding season.
Herd health: All cattle have been vaccinated with both a seven way and a four way vaccine,
and all will be treated with Ivermectin pour-on within the last 30 days before the sale.
Certificate of Registration: All cattle purchased, except for the steers, will be transferred to
the new owner and a registration paper from the Canadian Hereford Association will be sup-
plied.

NOTES ON TERMS:
Bulls in the sale:
Lot #1, Lot #2 & Lot #4 are being sold “100% possession, retaining 50% Semen In-
terest”. This means should you buy one of these bulls he will be yours to possess
and use at your ranch without any restrictions. However, should you elect to col-
lect semen from this bull for resale outside your own herd, we would be equal
partners in both the costs involved and the profits generated from this sale of se-
men.
Lot #3 is being sold “Possession Only”. We will be collecting semen prior to deliv-
ery of this bull and we will retain the right to all semen sales. We can provide se-
men to the purchaser at cost for “in herd” use only. Should we need to collect
the bull again at a future date, it will be done at a time which is mutually agreed
upon.
Females in the sale:
All females in the sale are all being sold with the term “Selling 100% Possession,
Retaining one flush”. This means that should you buy one of these females she
will be yours to possess and breed at your ranch without any restrictions. Howev-
er, should you use the female in question in a donor program and you have her
permitted as a donor dam by the CHA then we will retain the right to one flush of
this cow to the bull of our choice, at our costs, at a time which is mutually agreea-
ble to both parties.
HORSES in the sale: Bill and Jamie came home with four “Ranch Horses” which when added to Leslie’s
four makes us a little “over horsed” at Tlell. This is your opportunity to purchase a
good working cow horse who has “been there, done that”. See lots #22 and #23.
Please call Bill or Jamie at 250-557-4200 with any questions about the horses.
