Mobile Open House events
• The purpose is to spread the word
about HPN and enroll families in the HPN programs.
• We arrange and conduct mobile open houses events at apartment buildings, churches, businesses, parks, non-‐HPN schools in targeted JT locaJons.
• We developed a kit so the Mobile Open House event can be easily replicated by HPN staff and volunteers.

Targeted Outreach to Underrepresented and Disengaged Families • We go door-‐to-‐door in the neighborhood & tabling to meet families who are disengaged or do not aXend target schools.
• We do presentaJons in the Apartment Complex Lobby, HPN schools & School District meeJngs to target disengaged families.
• We hold regular meeJngs with AC owners & managers to
seek their support and access to residents in their buildings.
• We track the demographics of HPN members to provide on-‐need base services.
• We provide opportuniJes for resident engagement through referrals to partner’s acJviJes and programs, open house, neighborhood & apartment complex events.

Leadership opportunities:
• We engage JT residents, AC managers &
owners to provide input and make recommendaJons to improve quality of life in the community.

• JT residents and AC managers may be referred to other Leaderships meeJngs to develop leadership skills and conJnue engagement with HPN partners.

Resident Empowerment Program • The REP promote resident and community leaders
parJcipaJon on the HPN iniJaJve, grassroots organizing skills, and family empowerment acJviJes sponsored by HPN partners.
• Residents are encouraged to lead projects to spread the word about HPN, recruit families, and improve the lives of HPN families to stop generaJonal poverty.
• REP mentor and encourage residents to aXend and engage in HPN related acJviJes, programs and other governance related meeJngs in the community.
• Residents are encouraged to take the Promotoras, Parent Promise Academy, Project 2 Inspire and parJcipate in the Advisory Bard meeJngs.

In order to be effecJve at recruitment, retenJon and empowerment, we need:
• Provide a welcome packet to give to families when or you have few personal contact
with the residents, they parJcipate or enroll in a program, they come to a workshop.
• Encourage families to parJcipate in the Advisory Board, Parent Promise Academy, Project 2Inspire and Promotoras training programs
• Refer families to programs with open enrollment & services
• Refer families to the HUB at John Muir where families can enroll and get assistance, further informaJon about HUSD programs & assistance to fill lout forms
• Keep regular communicaJon with residents and provide them with updated informaJon to enroll families at various Jmes & programs depending on their path and needs.
• Provide individualized acJon plans for each child and their families • Provide residents with opportuniJes and trainings to develop leadership skills
• Include input from the Advisory Board, & Apartment Complex Managers CommiXee into the decision making process
