Session Planning Standards• Account to be used for the ODP. The 'EXTRAS
LIBRARY’ is available for ODP coaches to help you plan sessions
• Libraries will eventually include sessions by ODP Staff
• We are encouraging adding a session of your own each week to the 'CLUB SESSIONS’ (My Club) library
• Please ensure the following naming standards are followed:
• ODP sessions should be saved as ‘ODP_P1_{session title}’.
• P1 indicated the specific phase of the curriculum that the session relates to.
• Then 'ODP_P2_{session title)' and so on for the relevant phase you are working in. .
• Additional sessions you create can be saved to the CLUB SESSIONS library
• Please save partial sessions using the Private option (not Public or My Club).

Concussions
• According to the CDC:
• A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth.
• This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, stretching and damaging the brain cells and creating chemical changes in the brain.
Concussions in Soccer
• In soccer, concussions most commonly occur by the following contacts:• Head to Head
• Head to Elbow
• Head to Ground
• Head to Goal Post
• Head to Ball concussions are rare
Concussions
Signs• Can’t recall events prior to or
after a hit or fall.
• Appears dazed or stunned.
• Forgets an instruction, is confused about an assignment or position, or is unsure of the game, score, or opponent.
• Moves clumsily.
• Answers questions slowly.
• Loses consciousness (even briefly).
• Shows mood, behavior, or personality changes.
Symptoms• Headache or “pressure” in head.
• Nausea or vomiting.
• Balance problems or dizziness, or double or blurry vision.
• Bothered by light or noise.
• Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy, or groggy.
• Confusion, or concentration or memory problems.
• Just not “feeling right,” or “feeling down”.
Concussion Treatment
• When in doubt, sit them out
• Seek medical attention
• Maryland Law• Any athlete suspected of
sustaining a concussion during practice or play must be promptly removed from the game.
• The athlete may not return to play until they have been cleared by a licensed health care professional trained in the management of concussions.
