WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE EXHIBIT FLOORMonday, January 28th 2:30 pm – 6:30 pmTuesday, January 29th 9:30 am – 1:00 pm

EXHIBITSWith over 100 exhibit booths displayed over two days, you’ll have plenty to see and do on the exhibit floor. See and touch the products first hand, speak to professional representatives about what they can offer and how your business can benefit, and develop long-lasting partnerships with the best in the industry!

SHOW SPECIALSThis year we’re focusing on the buyers and working with our exhibiting companies to offer “Show-Only Specials”. This unique opportunity is designed to provide exhibitors with a favorable sales environment in front of a large number of buyers while giving the buyers/attendees an additional, can’t-be-missed incentive to attend the convention! Any dealers making a purchase at the show will not only receive a deal on the product/service, they will also be given a ticket for a special Buyers Only drawing held at the end of each day – so come ready to buy! Dealers will receive a ticket for EACH purchase they make. Dealers need NOT be present to win.

“PIT STOP” PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONSAlso new this year are the “Pit Stop” Product Demonstrations. A select number of exhibitors will give a 15-minute overview and demonstration of their product or service right at their booth during the two days of exhibit floor hours! NLA staff will emcee this event by making announcements that a pit stop product demo will be starting, selecting a central gathering location for dealers that want to attend, and then guiding the group to the designated booth signed up for the demo. Interested in hearing more about what they have to say? Stay and talk to the exhibitors after the demo is over!

CONTESTS, DRAWINGS, AND FUNThe exhibit floor is not all business. Each year, features are added to the show floor that offer attendees something to enhance their business or just simply add some additional fun to their convention experience. Besides the Buyer’s-Only Show special drawing described above, this year’s exhibit floor featured fun involves several Contests & Drawings that will get your adrenaline racing, such as:

• Sponsor Game Card Contest (drawings held end of day Monday and Tuesday – must be present to win)• Prize Drawings at Individual Exhibit Booths (drawings held end of day Monday and Tuesday – must be present to win)• Best Booth Contest for Exhibitors (announced at the Awards Dinner on Monday)• NLA Booth Games and Racing-Themed Fun! (Continuous during entire convention)

NETWORKING RECEPTION Monday, January 28th 5:30 pm – 6:30 pmThe Networking Reception is a free event held right in the middle of the exhibit floor on Monday evening. It’s where business is still in full swing and lumber yard professionals can rub elbows with exhibitors and sponsors in a relaxed atmosphere. Continue doing business or find other common interests to talk about with those around you. Complete with free keg beer, a cash bar, and hors d’oeuvres, this is a free event to attend. And remember to listen for contest & prize drawing winners, which will take place during the Networking Reception!

AWARDS MIXER, DINNER, AND ENTERTAINMENT Monday, January 28th 6:30 pm – 9:30 pmSign up to attend a night of pedal-to-the-metal fun at the Awards Mixer and Dinner - another fun opportunity for dealers, exhibitors, guests and staff to gather together on a winter evening without ever leaving the building. Start with free wine & beer during the Mixer while enjoying camaraderie and fun. Then enjoy a plated dinner while seeing peers receive much deserved awards, followed by a fun variety show to wrap up the evening. Cost is $30 per person. Tickets are not available onsite and must be ordered in advance. This is an EXPO ONLY exclusive event!

EDUCATION

“How to Sell More Today Using a Tool That Even Prospects Don’t Know About” by Dave Molenda Tuesday, February 26th 8:30 am – 9:30 amThe best sales professionals make sure they understand how people buy. During this workshop, you’ll learn how to use the DISC platform, which uncovers the little known fact that everyone falls into one of four categories – D,I,S,or C. We’ll explore the DISC tool and how, when used correctly, you can crush your sales quotas!

Topics Include• Understanding what drives prospects;• Finding new ways to better connect with your prospects;• Discovering what personality type you are;• Learning how to better read your prospect;• Creating customer mapping strategies; and• Learning from some examples of how people like to be sold to.

Dave Molenda is the founder of Positive Polarity, providing coaching, mentoring, and leadership training to companies looking for a positive and encouraging way to grow their businesses. In addition to Positive Polarity, Dave has over 30 years of construction industry experience and is the 2018 President of the Lakeland Builders Association in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He is the author of a #1 Amazon Best seller – “Growing on Purpose”. www.positivepolarity.com, www.linkedin.com/in/davidmolenda

“Iowa Legislative Update” by Angela DavisTuesday, February 26th 8:30 am – 9:30 am Iowa Lumber Association government relations attorney, Angela Kenyon Davis, will provide insight on the current Iowa legislative landscape and the statewide issues that affect you and your business. She will talk about the power of advocacy and what you can do to influence policy at the statehouse. This program will allow time for Q&A.

Angela Kenyon Davis is a government relations attorney, specializing in legislative policy and advocacy. Her consulting firm, AKD Legal Consulting, focuses on legal and legislative representation, with an emphasis in strategic planning and communication. She has had the honor of representing several diverse clients--government entities, small businesses, state associations, and national corporations. In addition to the Northwestern Lumber Association, Angela has been invited to speak on advocacy and legislative policy for the Iowa Bar Association, Drake University, Dream Iowa, and the American Beverage Association’s National Government Relations Conference. www.akdlegal.net

Membership Lunch & Keynote Speaker Jeff Beals“Selling Saturdays: Blue Chip Sales Tips from College Football”Tuesday, February 26th 12:00 pm – 1:30 pmTake a break during a busy day and join NLA at the annual membership meeting & FREE* lunch on Tuesday afternoon from noon to 1:30 pm. The show floor will be closed during this time, so plan to grab a bite, get caught up on ILA business, and listen to a fantastic keynote presentation by Jeff Beals.

*NLA retail members & their spouses/guests can attend for free. Non-member fee is $20.00 per ticket. Exhibitors (member or non-member) may get two free tickets per 8 x 10 booth purchased, with a maximum of up to 6 free tickets (3 booths). Additional tickets may be purchased for $20.00 each.

Keynote Topic & Speaker InfoLet’s face it...the sales profession in any industry is highly competitive even when times are good. But if you think your work is competitive, you wouldn’t believe the marketing and selling skills that are necessary to build a championship football team! In this thought-provoking presentation, award-winning author Jeff Beals shares the sales and marketing secrets he learned by interviewing legendary college football coaches. You’ll become more effective at marketing, selling and building interpersonal relationships by learning how famous coaches battle their competition in the brutally competitive race to sign the nation’s most prized, blue-chip athletes. Learn how coaches qualify prospects, identify influencers, make sales presentations, overcome objections and close big deals. You’ll leave with several easy-to-implement sales tactics you can use right away. Jeff Beals helps you find better prospects, close more deals and capture greater market share!

An international award-winning author, sought-after keynote speaker, and accomplished sales consultant, Jeff brings complicated subject material to life through his thought-provoking writing and entertaining presentations on sales, marketing and personal branding. www.jeffbeals.com/presentation.php, jeffbeals.com/blog, twitter.com/Jeff_Beals

WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE EXHIBIT FLOORTuesday, February 26th 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Closed over lunch from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm)

EXHIBITSWith dozens of exhibit booths on display, you’ll have plenty to see and do on the floor. See and touch the products first hand. Speak to professional representatives about what they can offer and how your business can benefit and develop long-lasting partnerships with the best in the industry!

SHOW SPECIALSThis year we’re focusing on the buyers and working with our exhibiting companies to offer “Show-Only Specials”. This unique opportunity is designed to provide exhibitors with a favorable sales environment in front of a large number of buyers - while giving the buyers/attendees an additional, can’t-be-missed incentive to attend the convention! Any dealers making a purchase at the show will not only receive a deal on the product/service, they will also be given a ticket for a special Buyers-Only drawing held at the end of the day – so come ready to buy! Dealers will receive a ticket for EACH purchase they make. Need NOT be present to win.

“PIT STOP” PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONSAlso new this year are the “Pit Stop” Product Demonstrations. A select number of exhibitors will give a 15-minute overview and demonstration of their product or service right at their booth during the exhibit floor hours!

• Sponsor Game Card Contest (drawing held end of day on Tuesday – must be present to win)• Prize Drawings at Individual Exhibit Booths (drawings held end of day on Tuesday – must be present to win)• Best Booth Contest for Exhibitors (announced at the Membership Lunch on Tuesday)• NLA Booth Games and Racing-Themed Fun! (Continuous during entire convention)

NETWORKING RECEPTION Tuesday, February 26th 3:30 pm – 5:30 pmThe Networking Reception is a free event held right on the exhibit floor on Tuesday evening. Remember to listen for contest & prize drawing winners, which will take place during the Networking Reception. The reception will go 30 minutes past the end of the exhibit hours for a little extra time if you’re having too much fun to go home!

EDUCATION

“How to Sell More Today Using a Tool That Even Prospects Don’t Know About” by Dave MolendaTuesday, March 5th 8:30 am – 9:30 am The best sales professionals make sure they understand how people buy.

He is the author of a #1 Amazon Best seller – “Growing on Purpose”. www.positivepolarity.comwww.linkedin.com/in/davidmolenda/

Membership Meeting with Lunch & Keynote Mitch HolthusTuesday, March 5th 12:00 pm – 1:30 pmTake a break during a busy day and join NLA at the annual membership meeting & FREE* lunch on Tuesday afternoon. The show floor will be closed during this time, so plan to grab a bite, get caught up on NDLA business, and listen to a fantastic keynote presentation by Mitch Holthus

Award winning broadcaster and “Voice of the Kansas City Chiefs” Mitch Holthus, took the work ethic he learned growing up on a farm into his career as a play-by-play sportscaster, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. In addition to his play-by-play duties, Holthus also hosts the “Minute With Mitch” television series that is seen and heard in five states, and he hosts the “Chiefs Insider” television show. Following the NFL season, Holthus is a television play-by-play talent for selected college basketball games. He currently owns his own company that features talent, marketing and motivational services. During his keynotes, Holthus brings both humorous and inspirational moments guaranteed to make you laugh but will also make you think.

WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE EXHIBIT FLOORTuesday, March 5th 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (Closed during lunch from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm)

EXHIBITSWith dozens of exhibit booths on display, you’ll have plenty to see and do on the exhibit floor. See and touch the products first hand. Speak to professional representatives about what they can offer and how your business can benefit and develop long-lasting partnerships with the best in the industry!

SHOW SPECIALSThis year we’re focusing on the buyers and working with our exhibiting companies to offer “Show Only Specials”. This unique opportunity is designed to provide exhibitors with a favorable sales environment in front of a large number of buyers - while giving the buyers/attendees an additional, can’t-be-missed incentive to attend the convention! Any dealers making a purchase at the show will not only receive a deal on the product/service, they will also be given a ticket for a special Buyers Only drawing held at the end of the day – so come ready to buy!

CONTESTS, DRAWINGS, AND FUNThe exhibit floor is not all business - each year, features are added to the show floor that offer attendees something to enhance their business or just simply add some additional fun to their convention experience. Besides the Buyer’s Only Show Special Drawing described above, this year’s exhibit floor featured fun involves several Contests & Drawings that will get your adrenaline racing, such as:

• Sponsor Game Card Contest (drawing held end of day on Tuesday – must be present to win)• Prize Drawings at Individual Exhibit Booths (drawings held end of day on Tuesday – must be present to win)• Best Booth Contest for Exhibitors (announced at the Membership Lunch on Tuesday)• NLA Booth Games and Racing-Themed Fun! (Continuous during entire convention.)

NETWORKING RECEPTION Tuesday, March 5th 4:30 pm – 6:00 pmThe Networking Reception is a free event held right on the exhibit floor on Tuesday evening. It’s where business is still in full swing and lumber yard professionals can rub elbows with exhibitors and sponsors in a relaxed atmosphere. Continue doing business or find other common interests to talk about with those around you. Complete with free keg beer, a cash bar, and hors d’oeuvres, this is free event to attend. And remember to listen for contest & prize drawing winners, which will take place during the Networking Reception.
