Week15GamePreviewWeek 15 Preview: Charlotte @ New York
August 5, 2017
The New York Lizards head into their final regular season game of the season and battle the Charlotte Hounds in hopes of securing a playoff spot.
Who: Charlotte Hounds at New York Lizards
When: Saturday, August 5, 2017. 7:00pm EST
Where: James M. Shuart Stadium, Hempstead, New York

Week 14 Pregame Notes/Recap
The New York Lizards (6-7) look to go for the season sweep of the Charlotte Hounds (6-7) in an attempt to fortify a position in the 2017 MLL Playoffs. New York made their quest for the fourth playoff spot difficult due to a poor defensive showing in their previous game against the Ohio Machine. In the 21-14 loss, Tommy Palasek was one of the bright spots, nabbing a hat trick in the contest, including the lone first quarter goal for the Lizards. Joe Walters and Rob Pannell both had themselves five point nights. Walters netted three goals and adding two assists, while Pannell score two goals and tallied three assists. With two goals and one assist in the loss, Will Manny is first in MLL in goals (33) and in a three-way tie for second in points (46). Greg Gurenlian put on a clinic in the faceoff circle, winning 25-of-37 faceoffs, in addition to scoring a goal in the third quarter. Usually one of the most consistent scorers for New York, Paul Rabil did not score a goal or have an assist, the second time this season he has been shut out.
What to Look Out For
It’s the Final Countdown!
If New York is going to play another game in August, here’s what needs to happen: New York has to beat the Charlotte Hounds at home while the Ohio Machine must win against the Rochester Rattlers. If these scenarios occur, Rochester and New York will both be 7-7, however, the Lizards would go to the postseason over the Rattlers because they defeated Rochester in their only match earlier in the season.
