Dear Friends,
As the new Executive Director of North Allegheny Foundation, I’m delighted to recognize and celebrate your life-changing support for our students and our work. Together we enrich the educational experience of North Allegheny students, create vital connections with the wider community by supporting North Allegheny schools, and provide scholarship monies to graduating seniors.
We’re proud of all we’ve accomplished with your help and we are heartened by the resurgence of support we’ve seen this year. Over 350 community members, teachers, alumni, and parents have joined us to support the mission of the Foundation. With an eye to continued growth, we look forward to providing more program grants, expanding STEAM education, and increasing scholarship opportunities. With your help, we can continue to better support the work of our students, teachers, staff, and administration.
When principals and teachers share how the Foundation’s funding made it possible for a student to stay after school for extra support or for families to gather and learn about STEAM careers, I remember how special the North Allegheny community is. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the ongoing work of preparing every student for success in a changing world.
Thank you! We simply can’t do it without you. Sincerely,
Abigayle Tobia, MNM, CFRE, GPC Executive Director

Mission
Impact
What we doWho We are
To enhance and enrich the educational experience of North Allegheny students, create vital connections with the wider
community in supporting North Allegheny schools, and provide scholarship monies to graduating seniors.
North Allegheny Foundation pursues its mission and strategic goals through three primary activities:
• Grant Making: Distributing funds to North Allegheny teachers, schools, and the District in support of the District’s six strategic goals.
• Connecting: Builds relationships with community members, parents, alumni, and business leaders in support of the Foundation’s mission.
• Scholarships: Provides scholarships to exceptional students graduating from North Allegheny High School. The Foundation also facilitates scholarships through donor restricted scholarships and community partnerships.
North Allegheny Foundation (NAF) is a broad-based community organization founded in 1989. The Foundation is governed by a 23-member Board of Trustees representing a diverse group of community and business leaders who are dedicated to supporting excellence in education. In 28 years, NAF has distributed over $300,000 in grants to NA Schools and thousands more in scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors.
Peebles Elementary received $1,700 to replicate McKnight Elementary’s successful ukulele program. Peebles also used the Drums Alive program to engage students in music and movement.
Middle Schools received a total of $2,400 for Keva sets. They were used in the foyers of the Schools to encourage students to interact without technology before school and during lunch.
Funds were provided to NAI for new murals in the lower gym to improve the learning environment.
NA Foundation provided $900, while the Class of 1966 contributed $2,125.
The award-winning North Allegheny Marching Band received $10,000 for new instruments.
Grants
Franklin Elementary received $7,761 in support of a pilot of Hummingbird/Art, and Bots. The program brought robotics, programming, and engineering into the second and third grade classrooms.
NA Foundation supports all 12 schools through grants to teachers and innovative programs. Over $40,000 was given directly to schools for a variety of innovative
programming, building improvements, and student support.
NASH received $4,000 for new banners to enhance branding and school pride.
Go Tigers!
Nearly all schools asked that NA Foundation provide flexible funding that could be made
available when students need financial assistance to participate in educational
opportunities. When requested by school principals or administrators, the Executive
Director can authorize immediate funding for students struggling to participate in regular
school activities.
Transportation was added to Carson Middle after school,
allowing for additional academic support time.
$6,000
Students in the Life Skills Education Program at Marshall
Middle started their own coffee shop! The Foundation
funded this project, field trips, and programs designed to further develop Life Skills.
$1,500
Carson Middle, McKnight Elementary, Bradford Woods
Elementary, and Franklin Elementary each received
$500 for sensory room furniture and equipment.
$2,000
