2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
As to create awareness different departments and associations are encouraged to conduct
special lectures by eminent resource persons. As a part of that activity the following programmes
were conducted by various associations.
The department of Mathematics conducted various Programmes to enhance skill of the students:
A special talk on „Motivational Talk‟ by Dr. Shobha M E, Asst Professor, MIT, manipal
was organized on 20-10-2015.
On 19-11-2015 Dr. B.R. Shankar delivered special talk on Fundamentls of Complex
Analysis.
A special lecture on “Degree Concepts in Graph” by Dr. Ravi Shankar Bhatt, Professor,
MIT, Manipal on 23-11-2015.
A special talk on “Basic concepts of SCILAB” by Mr. Krishna Chaithanya V. RVCE
Bangalore, on 29-01-2016
The department of Kannada in association with Literature Forum conducted various Programmes:
Special lecture on ‟Kannada Pada Sampathu was organized on 05.10.2015.
‟Bharathiya Katha Sahithya‟‟ study camp was organized on 11.01.2016
The Department of English conducted the following activities, in order to enrich the learning
experiences of the students:
On 8-2015, a Guest Lecture was organized by English Literary Club for I B.Sc. students.
Prof. Rajendra Naik, Principal of Laxmi Soma Bangera Govt. First Grade College Kota
Padukare, Kundapur, briefed the students on various facets of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam‟s
personality. The programme aimed at enlightening the students regarding the life and
achievements of Dr.Kalam.
On 24-9-2015, a Special Guidance Session on “English for Competitive Exams” was
arranged for III B.A. students. Mr. Asith Poojary of TIME, Udupi, briefed on the types of
English language-related questions that appear in various competitive exams.
On 1-10-2015, a “Video Show” was arranged for II B.Sc. students. The award winning
Malayalam movie “Chemmeen” based on Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai‟s novel of the same
title, prescribed as Text for II B.Sc. students, was screened.
On 4-3-2016, a student-led presentation session on R.K. Narayan‟s Novel “The Bachelor of
Arts” was arranged. 14 students of II B.A. (Optional English) presented their paper.
In addition, many student-led seminars, debates and discussions have been organized by the
Department on various occasions to widen the horizon of students‟ knowledge, thinking
and perception.
The Department of History conducted the following activities, in order to enrich the learning
experiences of the students:
Prof. Jagadeesha Shetty, Principal, PPC, Udupi, delivered a special lecture on “Aspects of
Tulunadu History for BA students on 22.11.2015
On 22.03.2016, a special lecture on “Contemporary Politics Issues” was conducted.
Ravindra Reshme , renowned writer delivered a lecture.
Prof. Udaya Brakur, HOD, History, Mangalore University delivered a special lecture on
“Caste consciousness” on 23.03.2016

A special lecture on “Saving and Investment Strategies and Recent Trends in Investment for
Enhancing the Knowledge of Saving” by Retd. Professor Raghavendra of Milagres College,
Kallianpur , on 14th
October 2015, for II Year M.Com Students.
A Special lecture on “Insurance and Contract Act” by Dr.N.V.Kamath, Senior Division
Manager , on 27th
February 2016, for II Year M.Com Students.
A NSDC –sponsored special training programme from 29-02-2016 to 07-03-2016 on “Debt
Recovery” for I Year and II Year M.Com Students. The programme was convened by Sri
Ganesh Shenoy, Sri P.V.Shenoy, Sri Sadananda Bangera and Sri Prakash Rao rendered their
services as trainers for the programme. The Trainees were awarded certificates on
successful completion training.
A one-day workshop on “Entrepreneurship Development Programme for young Graduates”
on 21th August 2015, in association with Platform of Women Entrepreneurs Regd.
(POWER) and Department of Commerce and industry Udupi (DIC). The Chief Guest,
Dr.G.Shankar, Chairman of Dr.G.Shankar Family Trust inaugurated the programme. Sri
Ramanand Nayak, Joint Director , DIC, Udupi, called upon the Student to develop
entrepreneurial skills. Ms. Saritha Santhosh , President of POWER , Sri Amrith Shenoy,
member of College Development Committee. Other members of CDC and Prof.
G.R.Raikar, Co-ordinator of Post graduate Studies Programme in Commerce, were present
on the occasion.
Inauguration of Commerce Association of our collegeon 22nd
September ,2015 by Dr.
Narayan Kayarkatti, Principal, MSNM Besant Institute of Management, who in his speech
wished that the activities of the Association would enrich the knowledge of the students in
different fields.
A one-day Special Guidance programme on “career Course Guidance and Soft Skill” on
23rd
February 2016, by Dr. Narayan Kayarkatti, Principal, MSNM Besant Institute of
Management for Final Year students. The Programme, while Stressing the need for building
up their career in future.
An Orientation Programme on Company Secretary Course offered by Institute of Company
Secretaries of India, by Sri Santhosh prabhu and Sri Nagesh of Udupi Institute, for I Year
M.Com students, on 16th
February 2016.
The Department remains grateful for the co-operation and guidance extended by prof.
Jagadeesh Rao, Principal of our college, who presided over all the above –mentioned
programmes.
An Educational Tour was conducted for 47 students of II yearM.Com to Bekalkote of
kerala on 12th
march 2016. Three lectures of the Department also participated in the tour and
guided the students. The students of Final Year B.Com Visited different industries of Udupi
district and observed various business/ production processes.
The Commerce Department places on record the splendid academic achievements of Ms.
Balashree S.V.(77.6%) and Ms. Seema (77.4%) at the M.Com Examinations of Mangalore
University held in the year 2014-15. They have brought laurels to our institution by bagging the
First and the Second Rank respectively. Our department wishes that these students would have
close contact with our Institution and the Department in future and inspire others to scale
glorious heights.

Science Association:
The Department of Physics organized Special Lecture on “Nano Particles” by Dr.
Manjunatha Pattabhi Chairperson & Head Dept. of Studies in Material Science
Mangalagongthri, Mangalore on 24.07. 2015.
On 20.01.2016, Special talk on “Personality Development Progarmme” by Sri KS Bhat.
„EXPLORE- Within You‟ a science exhibition was conducted on 08-02-2015.
The department of Computer Science conducted invited talk on “Digital India – Power to
Empower” by Sri Vishwanath Pai,Head, Department of P.G. Studies in Computer Science,
M.G.M. College, Udupion 25.02.2016.
National Science Day was organized on 29.02.2016. Inauguration and Keynote Address by
Dr. B.S. Sherigar, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Kuvempu University, and Shivamogga. In this
occasion, special talks were organized on “Make in India: Science and Technology Driven
Inventions“ and “Importance of Science Day” by Dr. B.S. Sherigar and Dr. A P Bhat,
Professor, Dept. of Physics, Poorna Prajna College, Udupi respectively. Also, Science Quiz
and Drawing intercollegiate competition were conducted.
On 12.03.2016, Entrepreneurship Training Programme was conducted for III B.Sc. Students
by Sri Aravinda Baleri, CEDOK, and Mangalore.
Rank holders, PhD awarded teachers and retired teachers are felicitated on college day
function.
Academic results of the students are documented and weaker students are given special
attention
Special activities are conducted for the student under various forums like NSS, NCC and
other associations. To encourage students in creative writings we have a wall magazine where poems, drawings
etc are exhibited. Apart from this annual college magazine and new letter from department of
Journalism is brought out.
The staff and various committees meet regularly to discusss various ways of improving the
quality teaching and other activities.
Cultural and Sports activities
Students not only actively participate in campus cultural and sports activities but also actively take
part in University level, district, inter collegiate and other cultural competitions.
Our college bagged third prize Inter College Essay Competition Shri Bhuvanendra College
Karkala On 28-01-2016, First Prize in Film Dance in intercollegiate competition at St.
Aloysius College, Mangalore-29-01-1016, and Second Prize in semi classical dance in
intercollegiate competition at Smt. Laxmi Soma Bhangera Govt. First Grade Collage Kota
Padukere Udupi on 8.03.2016.
University level Inter collegiate Kabaddi coaching camp for Women was organized in
association with Mangalore University from 01-08-2015 to 10-08-2015. Students were
participated in this camp.
Akshatha of II B.A & Harshitha of III B.Com were participated in south Zone inter
University Tournament at Tamilnadu.
Mangalore University level Inter collegiate Men & Women Badminton coaching camp was
organized from 22nd
To 29th
September 2015. Totally 36 Badminton players were
participated.
In the history of Udupi District our college conducted Mangalore University inter collegiate
Men & Women Athletics meet and sports for Physically disabled students on December 18th
& 19th
2015 more than 1000 men & women students actively participated in this meet.

Our college Throw ball Team won the Bronze medal in the inter collegiate Throw ball
Tournament our college kabaddi Team has won taluk & District level Dasara Sports
competitions and qualified for the Division level Dasara Meet at Mysore
Women’s Cell
Women‟s Cell and in association with Rotary Club, Kallianpur organized the Work Shop on
“ Mahile-Manassu” inaugurated by honorable MLA of Udupi Sri. Pramod Madhwaraj on
22.01.2016.
On 04.02.2016, World Cancer Day-2016 Programme was organized and Prof. Joyce
Sangeetha Periera, Udupi College of Nursing was resource person of this Programme.
The International Women‟s Day-2016 Programme was inaugurated by Dr. Praveena J Pai,
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing Manipal
University, Manipal on 08.03.2016. Special talks were arranged on “Adolescent
Reproductive health” by Dr. Praveena J Pai, and by Mrs. Hilda D‟Silva.

National Service Scheme (NSS) and Red cross:
On 21.06.2015 in association with Department of Youth empowerment and
sports, Udupi a Yoga Day was celebrated in indoor stadium and this Programme
was inaugurated by Udupi district in charge minister Shri Vinayakumara Sorake.
Shramadhana Programme was conducted on 11.07.2015 at College campus.
National Service Programme for the year 2015-2016 was inaugurated by Shri
Dinesh Kini and Special lecture was conducted for NSS students.
On 10/08/2015 in association with the Forest Department Vanamahostsav was
organized in college campus. This Programme was inaugurated by Principal of
this College Prof B Jagdish Rao.
NSS students were participated in Independence Day celebration on 15.08.2015.
Eight NSS students were participated “Leadership Training and Community
Development Camp” organized by Neharu youth centre In association with
SMS College, Brahammavar during 21-23, August 2015.
Fifty NSS students were participated “Jana Mana Programme” organized by
Department of Information and Public Relation, Govt. of Karnataka on
22.08.2015. This Programme was presided by Udupi district in charge minister
Shri Vinayakumara Sorake.
On 05/09/2015 in association with Ujwal Group of Industries and Lions club
Parkala a Teacher day was celebrated and this programme was inaugurated by
Prof. Udyavara Madava Acharya, Retd. Principal.
Sadbhavan day and NSS day programme was conducted on 24.09.2015.
On 26.09.2015, Organ Donation Awareness Jatha was organized in association
with NSS, Mangalore university and A J hospital Mangalore.
Swachhatha Abhiyana Programme was organized on 02.10.2015 at college.
On 06.10.2015, NSS students were participated in Kannada Pada Sampattu
Lecture Programme.
On 07.10.2015, Orientation Programme was conducted for NSS students.

at Shanthinikethana English medium school, Alevooru. Special lectures by
various resource persons were conducted every day.
On 12.12.2015, NSS students were participated in special lecture Programme on

Bunts union, Udupi.
On 22.12.2015, NSS students were participated in special lecture Programme on

Celebrated International Anti-Drug Day on 29-26-2015. Sri Nagaraj Murthy,
Principal, Dr A V Baliga College inaugurated the function and delivered a
special talk on Drug Abuse.
100 Students from our college has participated in Walkathaan 2016 on “SAY
NO TO DRUGS” which is conducted by All College Student Union in
collaboration with District Police Udupi. Dr P V Bhandari Inaugurated the
programme on 02.03 2016.
On 17-03-2016, a special talk was arranged on Empowering Women to fight
against sex abuse Mr. Premanandha Kalmadi was a resource person.
On 29.03.2016, one day work shop on Yoga for better health was organized,
resource by Dr. Vijayalaxmi, Dr A V Baliga college.
Students of NSS, Red Cross, Sports and cultural participated in raising fund
from public for of treatment of bone marrow transplantation of our college
student. Yuva sapthaha program me was organized. Students of Youth Red Cross participated in Blood donation camp at
Milagress College on 13.01.2016. On 10.02.2016, special talk on blood donation awareness Pr ogramme
was organized. Special workshop on general health and eye checkup programme. Students of Youth Red Cross participated in First aid training
programme at KMC hospital , Manipal.

PLACEMENT CELL
On 24 –7- 2015, a Special Recruitment Drive was conducted in association with
Netgeo Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Udupi, for outgoing graduates of our college.
Sri S.D. Basavaraju, District Employment Officer inaugurated the program. Smt. K.R.
Shashikala, Managing Director of Netgeo Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Udupi,Sri
Dinkar G.A. President of PTA were present. Principal Prof. Jagadish Rao presided
over the function.94 students participated in this programme, out of which 34 students
were selected and all of them have accepted the job offer and reported to their new
jobs.
On 21-8-2015 „Entrepreneurship Development Programme for Young Graduates‟ was
organized in association with the Department of Commerce of our college and
„Platform of Women Entrepreneurs Regd.(POWER)‟ and Dept. of Commerce &
Industry, DIC, Udupi. About 180 students from different streams participated in this
programme.
39 students of Final Year B.Sc. participated in the Special Recruitment Drive
Programme held at M.G.M. College, Udupi on 31-08-2015, by Wipro Technologies
Pvt. Ltd. And 10 of them were selected.
On 24-9-2015, a Special Guidance Session was organised for III B.Com students on
“Job Opportunities in Banking Sector”. Mr. Asith Poojary and Mr. Arun of
Triumphant Institute of Management Education - TIME, Udupi, informed the students
about various career opportunities in banking sector and gave valuable tips for facing
competitive exams in banking sector.
A Job Fair was organised on April 2, 2016, in association with District Employment
Exchange, Udupi for the Final Year Graduate and Post-graduate students. Sri S.D.
Basavaraju , District Employment Officer inaugurated the Job Fair. Sri Srikrishna Rao
Kodancha, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Assistant Employment
Officer, Sri R.N. Naik were present on the occasion. 5 Companies which are the fore-
runners in IT and Banking and about 600 job-seekers participated in the event.
In addition, students were given plenty of opportunities to participate in workshops
and Job Fairs organized by other nearby institutions.

6.14 Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly
Since our campus is built in a small area there isn’t much scope to grow plants and trees.
But within a small area we have developed a small garden. To create ecological awareness
tree plantation programmes are conducted. The students are trained eco-friendly
disposable of wastes and maintain hygiene. Whenever there is an opportunity for
ecological training our students actively participate.
