Engineers with Professional Ethics to serve the Nation in a better
way. The student’s talents in various study areas are blossomed
under faculty tutelage, who have wide experience in various fields
like teaching, research, consultancy and training. The Department is
focusing on immediate challenges of this century like sustainability
of built environment and energy saving. In this regard KSSEM is
always pushing the frontiers of modern technology to find the
solutions of the challenges related to Civil engineering field.
Welcoming the new students of KSSEM to civil engineering st
department we had organized a fresher’s party on August 21 2013
and made them feel comfortable to mingle in a new environment.
Students had a wonderful chance to showcase their hidden talents
and it was received with a great applause from the audience. The
program was followed by a special lunch.
th A National seminar on green buildings was held on August 28 2013
by Department of Civil Engineering. The eminent experts who
graced the session were Mr. S. Srinivas, Mr. Sampath, Mr. Sateesh
from Indian Green Building council (IGBC) Hyderabad. The main
focus of the seminar was on various case studies on green
buildings, models and documentation. An interactive session was

there in the later part of the session which was very helpful to the
students as they had crystal clear understanding of documentation of
green buidlings. Elucidating the need of seminar the experts have
motivated the participants to show their future interest in this
particular filed which is very essential in the fast urbanizing world as
the urban pockets are facing the rapid population growth. The
enthusiastic and active participants were from various institutes like
Yellama Dasappa Institute of Technology, Dayananda Sagar
Academy of Technology and Management, Acharya Institute of
Technology.
Workshop on “ Hands on Concrete Mix Proportions” was organized th th
for 2 days i.e. 18 and 19 of Sept. 2013 by the department of civil
engineering in co-ordination with “ Ultra Tech” headed by YTVV
Prasad and Vyshnavi in which concrete mix proportions for various
grades of cement was explained and practically mix was carried out
in concrete lab. Students actively participated and with hands on
Mix Design.

Industrial visit is considered as one of the most tactical methods of
teaching. The main reason behind this – it lets students to know
things practically through interaction, working methods and
employment practices, actual working conditions, awareness with
industrial practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from academic
point of view.
This industrial visit was headed by Srianth , Assistant Engineers &
