AMERICANISM REPORT Chris Wennerholm
The Republican Philosophy:
We believe: That the right of individuals to achievethe best that is within themselves as long as they re-spect the rights of others, is the source of our nation'sstrength.
That government exists to protect the freedom of opportunity in which each individual's creative abilitycan flourish.
That government activities should be limited tothose things which people cannot do at all, or as well, for themselves as individuals.
That the most effective government is governmentclosest to the people.
That those who cannot provide for themselvesshould be assisted, but that every effort should be madeto help them become self-supporting, productive citi-zens with pride in their independence.
That equal rights, equal justice, and equalopportunity belong to all citizens, regardless of race,
creed, age, sex, or national origin.
That the preservation of our Nation and the securityof our citizens depend upon the Constitution, the laws, and the courts, and that respect for them is the respon-sibility of every individual.
That government is accountable for maintaining
sound money and a responsible economy. Individualrights, liberties and properties are continually erodedwhen citizens are oppressed by excessive taxation, in-flation, government waste and overregulation.
That government is responsible for national defenseand that only a strong America can remain a freeAmerica.
That it is absolutely essential to maintain a strongnational defense posture in order that we may at alltimes negotiate from a position of strength, not weak-ness, in our continuing efforts toward world peace andfriendship.
That these concepts are the foundation of our na-tional strength and that the Republican Party, which iscommitted to their preservation, is the Party of todayand the Party for the Future.
Chaplain's Inspiration - Rita O'Connell
Our club continues to enjoy growth and enthusiastic participation, for which we are grateful.
All of our members and supporters are important to our organization, whether or not they can take active roles. Thismonth we send greetings to Jackie Mottaz with the hope that she will soon be able to attend meetings.
We want Jackie and others to know that we value their support. God bless you all, and God bless the United States!

Snippets from the book, “Women Who Make the
World Worse:………”.- Linda Jonckheere
The following are excerpts from a great book by KateO‟Beirne, National Review Washington Editor. The title of the book is “Women Who Make the World Worse: and HowTheir Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining Our Schools,Families, Military, and Sports.” These snippets make me
think this is a book we should all read.
“Today‟s feminists attempt to ennoble their demands bywrapping themselves in the suffragettes‟ principled cam-paign for the right to vote. They argue that you can‟t bepro-women without being pro-choice. But the radical abor-tion views of today‟s feminists like Kate Michelman…andEleanor Smeal betray the staunchly pro-life views of Amer-ica‟s earliest feminists. In fact, those pioneering activistswere uniformly opposed to abortion…
The Revolution, a women‟s paper published by SusanB. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, referred to abor-tion as „child murder‟ and „infanticide.‟ … In a letter to JuliaWard Howe in 1873, Stanton wrote, „When we consider
that women are treated as property, it is degrading to
women that we should treat our children as property to bedisposed of as we see fit.‟ These committed women puttheir money where their pens were by refusing ads forabortifacients.
The modern day successors to Anthony and Stantonare Feminists for Life, an organization determined to re-claim the legacy of America‟s earliest women‟s-rights activ-
ists, but „Debunking the myth that 19 th century women‟srights supported abortion is a constant challenge, espe-cially for historians faced with prejudice and political cor-rectness.‟….
It is Serrin Foster, the dynamic president of Feministsfor Life since 1994, who is faithful to the legacy of Amer-ica‟s earlier women‟s movement. Recognizing that 20 per-cent of all abortions are performed on college students,Foster launched Feminists for Life‟s College Outreach Pro-gram and keeps up a grueling schedule traveling to cam-puses, where she‟s remarkably successful in changingstudents‟ minds about abortion. Planned Parenthoodcalled Feminists for Life‟s „Question Abortion‟ campaign„the newest and most challenging concept in anti-choiceorganizing.‟
The Humboldt County Central Committee held elections in January for 2006.

Commissioner Ronnie Pellegrini, Humboldt Bay Harbor and Recreation District, gave adynamic presentation at our January luncheon.
Her report on her trip to China with Governor Schwarzenegger was inspiring. Our exposureto other ports is so important to our future. To be the only port represented on that trip gave ussuch a prestigious position in future discussions in Sacramento, as California begins to look at
expanding our port systems beyond the congested ports, like Long Beach and Oakland. Ronnie was a terrific ambassa-dor for us and our Port of Humboldt Bay.
Ronnie reported that the commissioners will be observing other small ports like Grays Harbor and Savannah to learntheir successful strategies for expansion of services and facilities.
I worked with Grays Harbor as members of the “Cruise the West”, a marketing consortium for the west coast. Thatgroup created close relationships that have been paying off. As ports create relationships with one another, businessgets done!
We have opportunities with ports in China, thanks to Ronnie‟s successful marketing trip.
We also have opportunities to build relations with one of the most successful ports in the world, our Sister City port of
Kamisu, Japan, and in our Sister City port of Nelson, New Zealand. Creating good relationships creates good business---in any field!
Thank you, Ronnie Pellegrini, for creating new friendships in China….and Sacramento!
