Get their Attention! (3 minutes) Materials: Truth Sheet
INTRODUCE yourself to the kids, then have them stand in a line, shoulder to shoulder.
SAY, “I’m going to read three sentences. Two of them are true and one is
something I made up. When I read the one that you think is made up, take
one step forward.”
READ the first section of sentences from the Truth Sheet. As kids step forward,
allow them to say their names and explain why they thought that sentence
was made up. Once you’ve read all sentences from that section, reveal
which one was false.
Continue playing with sections two and three.
ALLOW kids to sit down. Then SAY:

READ the Bible Story Cards, following the instructions included on them.

Make It Matter (7 minutes) Materials: Game Cards, Hand Sanitizer, Candy
TELL kids we’re going to play “Memory Match” with a twist! This game will help
everyone see how we can use the belt of truth in different situations.
SPREAD OUT all the Game Cards in the middle of the circle, picture side up. EXPLAIN:
1. We’re going to take turns flipping over ONE card with a caramel apple on the
back and ONE card with a balloon on the back.
2. I’ll read the cards and if the LIE on the caramel apple card can be defeated
by the TRUTH on the balloon card, you get to keep the match! (A match is
made if the letter beside “LIE” and “TRUTH” is the same!)
3. Otherwise, we’ll put the cards back and keep playing.
4. At the end of the game, whoever has the most matches is the winner!
PLAY the game. AFTER the game:
1. Allow kids to count their matches.
2. Sanitize the winner’s hands, and allow him/her to choose a piece of candy
first. Then reward everyone else with a piece of candy.
3. Allow kids to repeat today’s Need to Know after you.
You were pretty good at figuring out if what I said was true or made up – like it
was your superpower or something! Now, we were playing a fun game, but in
life, the devil will try to trick us by telling us things that he has made up. To
protect ourselves against these attacks, we need to remember what God says
is true in the Bible. We can do this using a piece of God’s armor called the Belt
of Truth. So say this:
Suit Up with the Belt of Truth

Bible Story:
The Fall
Genesis 3
Materials per Group:
Truth Sheet
Bible Story Cards
Game Cards
Hand Sanitizer
Materials per Child:
Candy (1 piece per
child per service)
Wrap It Up (4 minutes) Materials: None
TELL the kids:
We learned a verse from the Bible last week that’s about putting on all of
God’s armor in order to stand strong against the devil.
We’re going to practice this verse again today. I want you to memorize it over
the next few weeks because it is a TRUTH from God’s Word that can help you
any time you are facing trouble!
READ the verse to the group, having them repeat the words and motions after you
several times.
PLAY a game to practice the verse.
1. Allow kids to sit in a circle, putting their feet into the middle.
2. Start by pointing to one child’s foot and saying the first word of the verse as a
group.
3. As the group says each word of the verse, point to the next child’s foot.
4. Whichever foot is on the last word of the verse (“11”) is out!
5. Play until there is only one foot left. That child is the winner!
ASK kids for any prayer requests. Then, PRAY for the group.

Have Extra Time? Materials: Game Cards
Keep kids engaged in small group until they are checked out by doing any of the
following activities:
PLAY “Superhero Surprise”:
Kids will partner up and stand back to back with their partners.
On the count of “three,” kids will turn around to face each other,
making a superhero move as they turn.
o BATMAN – put fingers on head like ears
o SUPERMAN – put hands on hips and chest out
o SPIDER-MAN – move fingers like spider legs
If both partners do the same sign, they are out.
Keep playing until only one partner group remains.
PLAY “Memory Match” again.
Review what happened in Large Group and how it showed that we should
Suit Up with the Belt of Truth.
Memory Verse:
“Put on all of God’s
armor.
(cross arms on chest)
Then you can remain
strong
(make muscles)
Against the devil’s evil
plans.”

This story is in Genesis 3. As I read it to you, I’m going to need some

say a word that makes sense in the story and rhymes with the one I
pointed out.

like to tell you ALL a story from the Bible called “The ______. (Hint: Is it

Bible Story Cards
You guys did a great job figuring out the right rhymes! Now, at the
end of this story, Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden. On
that day, death and evil entered the world, and we are still battling it
today.
That’s why we need to suit up with the first piece of God’s armor –
the Belt of Truth!
Does the belt of truth help us remember what GOD says or what
SUPERMAN says? (What God says)
Right! So when the enemy is attacking you with something that is a
lie, would you defeat him with laser vision or with truth from God’s
Word? (With truth from God’s Word)
How can you learn what God’s Word says? (Read your Bible, come
to church and hear stories, etc.)
You got it! So, to prepare yourself for battle, everyone say this after
me: Suit Up (superman pose) with the Belt of Truth (point to hips)!
