5. GUIDELINES TO STUDY THE SUBJECT
Nanotecnology refers to any technology that uses nanoscopic objects or devices, i.e., devices
on the order of nanometer.
This subject is divided into five parts.
The first part, fundamental of nanoscopic physics, introduces some of the basic ideas underling
nanoscopic phenomenon including wave and particle concepts, quantum principles, charge
confinement, solid state materials etc.
Second part is based on the basic ideas of q-dots, q-wires and q-wells. These are needed to
study fairly broad classes of nanoelectronics. And how electron transport migrate from classical to
quantum, means concept of tunneling.
Third part include SED (single electron device) and coulomb blockage. Single electron devices
include single electron transistor, this relies on the movement of single electron (few electrons)
movement.
Forth part include many transport phenomenon at nanoscale including ballistic transport and
application of this in semiconductor quantum dot, well and wires.
Last past will give the brief explanation of various fabrication technology for nanoscale
devices.

1. A complete discussion of fundamentals of nanoelectronics will discuss in this subject.
2. “Nanoelectronics,” introduces the fundamentals of q-dots, q-wells, q-wires.
3. Basic terminology and numerical representations that are used throughout Nano systems
design are presented as well.
4. Basic terminology and numerical representations that are used throughout digital systems
design are presented as well.
5. This subject will cover the realization of Transport at nanoscale.
6. To design and Mathematical solution of Single electron transistor (SET).
7. To learn and analysis and design of Nano circuits.
8. This will give us brief knowledge about how a counter is essentially a register that goes
through a predetennined sequence of states.9. Trade-offs of various memory technologies.
