A new bus network orSydney Buses Southern Region
The new bus network or the Southern region will be
introduced rom:
Sunday 21 March 2010
In September 2009 State Transit Authority invited the
community to comment on a proposal to improve bus
services by making routes more direct and providing
services to meet growing demand.
We appreciate the time the local community took to be
involved in the comment process. We received submissions
on a variety o topics, all o which were careully considered
and reviewed. A summary o the main topics raised and our
responses is included in this brochure.
The new bus network introduces changes which allow
customers across the whole community to access a greater
number o bus transport options including:
New links between the regional centres Hurstville andBurwood;
Improved links on cross regional services; New Sunday services to Bankstown; Improved evening services rom the CBD to Birchgrove; Better links to regional shopping centres; New services to Chiswick on Route 415; A new ull time service rom Mortlake to the CBD on
Route 439; and
A aster, more efcient Sydney CBD service romMortlake, Canada Bay, Haberfeld and Leichhardt on
Route L39 through the introduction o PrePay only
ticketing.
School Special routes have not been altered although some
minor time changes have been made. Local schools will be
notifed o these changes.
We will closely monitor the new network to respond to
passenger demand.
