SENSOR TECHNOLOGYTraditionally 3 types of senor technologyhavebeenusedindomesticsmokealarms.
Optical smoke alarms are typically moreeffectiveatdetectingslowburningfires.
Ionisation smokealarmsaregenerallymoreeffectiveatdetectingfast,flamingfires.
Heat alarms are triggered when roomtemperature reaches a set point (typically56°C) these alarms are generally used inkitchens.
THERMOPTEK SENSOR TECHNOLOGY
This combines an optical sensing chamberwith thermal enhancement. The alarm iseffective at detecting slow burning fires, and constant monitoring of temperaturechangesenablesthesensitivityofthealarmtobeinstantlyincreasedtherebyquickeningthetypicalresponsetimetofastflamingfiressignificantly.
Thermoptek alarms are “toast-proof”meaning they can be positioned in areaclose to kitchens that may be affected bycookingfumes.Heatalarmsshouldbeusedinkitchenswhererequired.
APPLICATIONWARNING: Your FireAngel smokealarm can be installed into a new
build property as additional protectionto an existing smoke detection systemonly. It cannot be used as a substitute fora hard wired system as required in newbuild properties. In this type of propertythe building regulations require alarmsto be interlinked. You can obtain furtherinformation from your local fire service orbuilding control department at your localcouncil offices. These sources generallyprovide advice on new builds or projectsthatrequireplanningpermission.
Your smoke alarm typically meets theminimum requirements for family livingunitsinexistingbuildings, aslongasatleastone unit is installed on each floor/level ofyourproperty.
Inordertoachievetheearliestfirewarning,we recommend that a smoke alarm isfitted in all rooms where the temperatureis normally between 4°C (40°F) and 38°C(100°F). Check the section on ‘Positioning’to ensure that the smoke alarm is to becorrectly positioned for the particulardwelling into which it is intended to beinstalled.
WARNING: Thealarmpositions shownbelow are based on typical homes.
Construction and layout of individualdwellings will vary, so this should be

regardedonly as aguide.Checkwith yourlocalfirestationforfurtherguidance.
Multi-family or mixed occupant residence(Tenancy building, student accommodation)Your FireAngel smoke alarm can alsobe used in individual flats and bedsits, providing the same conditions are met asforasingle-familyresidence.However,theremust already be a primary fire detectionsystemthatmeetsregulatoryrequirementsfor common areas such as lobbies andhallways.
