Airplane Watching with SWASouthwest Airlines is con-
stantly seen coming andgoing from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.Their brilliant blue and redBoeing 737 fleet is an inte-gral part of the hustle andbustle as commuters travelto all kinds of destinations. But did you know thatSouthwest maintains anumber of airplanes that are
painted differently? Hereare two shots of the 737that is painted with the Cali-fornia state flag motif, a trib-ute to that state.
Manchester has also beenvisited by the Maryland 737,with a colorful rendition ofthe state flag of Maryland. And recently the Seaworld737 paid a visit to MHT.
Although most of the SWA737 fleet is comprised of thetraditional blue/red colorscheme, there are two-tonetan jets, and many specialtyairplanes like those shownhere. Have you seen oth-ers? Do you have photos toshare with our readers?Remember, they must beSouthwest Airline jets, and
they must be a Manchester-
Boston Regional Airport.

Can You Help Solve
Historys Mysteries?
The above photograph is believed
to have been taken at Manchester
Airport, possibly prior to 1930. In
the photo are four men, one of
whom is David Lamontagne, for-mer owner of the Red Arrow Din-
er in Manchester. Another man
pictured was his brother. The
other two men are a mystery.
The airplane in the background
we are fairly certain is a Curs
Robin. Can you idenfy these
men?
The other queson well put to
you is much tougher. David
Lamontagne once accepted a ride
in an airplane with a prominent
polical gure in New Hampshire
(mayor, governor, what-have-
you). That ride ended in a crash
which both pilot and passenger
survived. Mr. Lamontagne was
very leery of ying aer that.
Can you tell us who that poli-
cian was, plus when and where
the crash occurred?
The photo and the quesons are
courtesy of Mr. Lamontagnes
granddaughter, Cynthia Lamon-
tagne. If you have any infor-
maon that would be helpful in
unraveling these riddles, please
send an email to Editor Paul Bag-
ley at [email protected]. The
only reward will be entlement
to bragging rights for knowing
the right answer.
We welcome quesons such as
this from our readers and wed
like to make this column a regu-
lar feature in Blue Skies. If you
have an aged photo, or a piece of
memorabilia that is someho
connected to the GranStates aviaon history, let
publish your queson to see
we can solve the mystery. T
