The magician's assistant is placedinto a large net which is lifted upabove the performer's head. He firesa pistol at the girl in the net. One endof the net falls and the girl vanishesinstantaneously!

The frame is actually two lengthsof "C" stock aluminium bolted totwo end strips of flat bar stock alum-inium. The "C" lengths (front andback of frame) are seven feet longand three inches on a side. The endpieces are 36 inches by l/z inch by 3

inches. The frame is bolted togetherwith heavy bolts and wing nuts.

To prepare for a performance, theblack velvet drop is rolled aroundthe bar in-its hem and secured in thefront of the frame. The metal strip atthe bottom of the net is securedwithin the back of the frame. Theframe is now fastened to a batten inthe flies.

In performing, the frame islowered to the stage and the girl getsin and lies down in the net (on top of

the three supporting ropes). Theframe, net, and girl are pulled up toabout 10 feet above the stage. As themagician fires his gun, the girl pullsthe release cord. The net falls fromthe rear of the frame as the blackvelvet drop unrolls to conceal thegirl. The girl is held up by the threeropes.

This illusion works on the blackart principle. The white net hidesthe edges of the black velvet dropagainst the black stage drapes.
