EFFECT: The magician and his as-sistant climb some stairs and standon top of a small table. He covers herwith a large silken cloth. Then hedecends the stairs, which are rolledoff stage. The outline of the "girl"under the cloth is evident to all int h e a u d i e n c e . S u d d e n l y t hemagician gives the cloth a pull andthe girl has vanished!

WORKINGS: As can be seen in theillustrations, the table has a hidden

trap. It is through this trap and intothe stairs (via the secret back doors)that the girfgoes when the magicianstretches out the large cloth. Oncethe girl is clear, the backstage as-sistant pulls the supporting threadtight enough to raise and hold up theforms. The performer drapes thecloth over the forms which appear tobe the girl.

The magician next decends thestairs and has them rolled off stage(concealed girl and all). Now all he

has to do is pull on the cloth hardenough to break the supportingthread. As the cloth collapses, it ap-pears that the girl has vanished!

The supporting thread should beof very dark brown twisted silkthread. The large cloth should be ofpat terned material so that thestitches where the form is sewn inare not visible. Also, there should beno lights behind the large cloth atany time.
