A FIVE-year-old Cill naMartra girl who capturedthe hearts of Cork haspassed away after a bravefight against cancer.
Megan Malone, left, — describedby her parents as their “beautifullittle princess” — died in NewYork at 3am yesterday.She had spent nine months in
the US last year for what washoped would be life-saving treat-ment. When she returned homeshe was free from cancer.However, tumours were
discovered to have grown againearlier this year, and she and herfamily returned to New Yorkduring the summer for furthertreatment.However, her devastated parents
Sheila and John, sister Chloe andbrothers Dylan and Tristan, werereturning home from New Yorktoday to prepare for her funeral inthe coming days.They announced her death on
their website saying: “Meganbattled her terrible disease forover 26 months and it finally got

the better of her little body andsoul. We are so so devastated.”The statement continued: “Our
hearts are truly broken. We willnever ever forget you Megan.“We love you so so much. No
more suffering, no more pain.Poor poor little darling Megan,may you rest in peace.”This morning, local parish
priest Fr Dick Browne said theMalone family had invested hugeenergy in fighting to keep Meganalive. And he said prayers werebeing said at local masses for thefamily.The brave fighter was first
diagnosed with cancer in October2010 — a week after the birth ofher youngest brother Tristan.The Malones were told that
Megan had just three weeks tolive, after being diagnosed withtumours on the brain and spine.But the Malones did not give up
