C2.3 Employment Information
Before joining SQU, I worked in pharmaceutical laboratories for nine years. I started
my career as a chemist in the Ministry of Health, and then I was promoted to a section
head of the chemical analysis unit in March 1999. During this period of time, I gained
a vast experience in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Atomic
Spectrometry (AA), and various spectrophotometric instruments. I also introduced
and implemented Laboratory Information Management System in the laboratories. In
September 2000 I joined the National Pharmaceutical Industries (NPI), the first
pharmaceutical company in the Sultanate, as Deputy Quality Control Manager. I am
pleased to say, that I established the quality control laboratory in the company by
myself. When I joined NPI, all the analytical instruments were just received and I
started to install, commission and validate them. These instruments include: HPLCs,
AA, Gas Chromatography, Infra-red spectrophotometry, Fluorescence
Spectrophotometry and UV- Visible Spectrophotometry. Additionally, I was one of
the active members of the team that launched 16 pharmaceutical formulations in two
years time at NPI. These products are currently being marketed in various countries
all around the world. These are listed below:
