1.1 Product IntroductionThe ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) product is an outdoor DC power system that provides powersupply for –48 V communication equipment.

l It is applicable to the 220 V/380 V grid and uses single-phase three-wire (L/N/PE) orthree-phase five-wire (L1/L2/L3/N/PE) AC input.

l It can be configured with up to four rectifiers and can provide 120 A DC power for theload.

The ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) can use an integrated cabinet or a set of separate cabinets.Figure 1-1 shows the application scenario.

1.2 Product FeaturesCustomized AC Input ModeThe ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) products in two AC input modes are available. You can useeither one of them as required.

l Single-phase AC input (L/N/PE), AC 220 V, 50 Hz/60 Hz.l Three-phase AC input (L1/L2/L3/N/PE), AC 220 V/380V, 50 Hz/60 Hz.

A Wide Range of Input VoltageA wide range of input phase voltage (80 V to 300 V) makes the system suitable for areaswith unstable sources.

Modular Power ModuleThe rectifiers use a modular design and are hot-swappable, facilitating installation andmaintenance.

Modular and Intelligent Supervision ModuleThe supervision unit uses a modular design and is hot-swappable, facilitating installationand maintenance.

The supervision unit has complete monitoring and management features, including smartbattery management and rectifier management.

Diverse Cabinet ConfigurationsIntegrated cabinets and separate cabinets are available.

l The integrated cabinet can be equipped with batteries. Integrated cabinets thatsupport four temperature control modes are available.

l A set of separate cabinets has a power cabinet and a battery cabinet. The batteriesare installed in the battery cabinet. The power cabinet and battery cabinet that supporttwo temperature control modes are available.

1.3 Product ConfigurationThe ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) system consists of an outdoor cabinet, power supply chassis,SIU, and batteries.

l Outdoor cabinet: An integrated cabinet or a set of separate cabinets can be used asthe outdoor cabinet. A set of separate cabinets contains a power cabinet and a batterycabinet.

l The power supply chassis integrates the rectifier, Centralized Supervision Unit (CSU),Signal Interface Unit (SIU) and power distribution components. For a description ofthe power supply chassis, refer to Table 1-3.

l The SIU provides a variety of interfaces for monitoring and remote networking. For adescription of the signal interface units, refer to Table 1-4.

l Two set to batteries are configured, and each one is comprised of four 12 V/150 Ah(or a smaller capacity) batteries. The batteries models are defined in the contract.

2.2 Integrated Cabinet (Two Fan Units)This section is applicable the ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) that is equipped with an integratedcabinet (two fan units). In both equipment space and battery space, the fans are used tocontrol temperature.

Caution!

The ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) equipment that is equipped with an integrated cabinet (twofan units) is a straight-ventilation cabinet, and it cannot be used in a harsh outdoorenvironment. Failure to comply with this may result in equipment damage.

The internal structure of the integrated cabinet (Two Fan Units) is described as follows:

l The equipment space is located in the upper part of a cabinet.

The fan unit is used to control temperature of the equipment space.

The equipment space is equipped with the power supply chassis and the SIU. Thereserved 8U space can be used to install communication equipment (load).

Each auxiliary AC output component has one 16 A/1P air circuit breaker and onethree-hole socket for maintenance (complied with the contract). The air circuit breakerand the socket are connected in series. The air circuit breaker is used as the socket’sswitch, and the socket provides a standby AC power supply for the user equipment.

l The battery space is in the lower part of a cabinet .

The fan unit is used to control temperature of the battery space.

The battery rack in each layer of the battery space can accommodate four 12 V/150Ah (or a smaller capacity) batteries.

1U space at the battery space bottom is reserved for installing heating components.

This section is applicable the ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) that is equipped with an integratedcabinet (a heat exchanger and a fan unit). In the equipment space, a heat exchangeris used to control temperature. In the battery space, the fan unit is used to controltemperature.

l The equipment space is located in the upper part of a cabinet .

The heat exchanger and the ventilation subrack are used together to controltemperature of the equipment space.

The equipment space is equipped with the power supply chassis and the SIU. Thereserved 8U space can be used to install communication equipment (load).

Each auxiliary AC output component has one 16 A/1P air circuit breaker and onethree-hole socket for maintenance (complied with the contract). The air circuit breakerand the socket are connected in series. The air circuit breaker is used as the socket’sswitch, and the socket provides a standby AC power supply for user equipment.

l The battery space is in the lower part of a cabinet .

The fan unit is used to control temperature of the battery space.

The battery rack in each layer of the battery space can accommodate four 12 V/150Ah (or a smaller capacity) batteries.

1U space at the battery space bottom is reserved for installing heating components.

2.4 Integrated Cabinet (A Fan Unit and A TEC)This section is applicable the ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) that is equipped with an integratedcabinet (a fan and a TEC air conditioner). In the equipment space, the fan unit is usedto control temperature. In the battery space, a TEC air conditioner is used to controltemperature.

Caution!

The integrated cabinet (a fan and a TEC air conditioner) is direct air ventilation. Therefore,this cabinet ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) must not be installed outdoor in hash environments,otherwise the equipment is subject to damage.

The cabinet heat exchange flow is as follows:

1. The equipment space uses a heat exchanger and a ventilation subrack to implementheat circulation.l Hot air in the equipment space enters the heat exchanger through the ventilation

subrack. The air is cooled in the heat exchanger and enters the cabinet.l Cool air out of the equipment space enters the heat exchanger and takes the heat

out of the heat exchanger.2. The battery space uses the fan unit or the TEC air conditioner to perform heat circu-

lation.l When the fan unit is used for heat circulation, the air out of the battery space

enters from the cabinet bottom. mixes up with the air in the battery cabin, andthen is ventilated out from the fan unit.

l When the TEC air conditioner for heat circulation, air out of the battery spaceenters the TEC air conditioner for heat exchange. After the air in the battery spaceis cooled by the TEC air conditioner, it is ventilated to the battery cabin.

5.3 Centralized Supervision UnitThe supervision unit that is configured in the ZXDU58 W121 (V4.0) system is B121-CSU.

The Centralized Supervision Unit (CSU) is the foreground monitoring unit of the system.It monitors the AC distribution, DC distribution, rectifiers and batteries of the system.

Functionsl Gives an audible and visual alarm and provides when the system is faulty.l Collects the operational data and monitors the operations of the system.l Supports precise battery management covering the battery discharging, charging and

test.l Transmits data to the background Supervision Center (SC) and receives commands

from the SC. In this way, the system can be monitored remotely.l Manage rectifiers elaborately, and the rectifiers support the automatic sleep function

to save energy.

7.2 PFC Output Over/Under-Voltage ProtectionThe PFC output over/under-voltage protection is as follows:

l When the PFC output voltage > 440 V DC, the post-DC/DC conversion circuit and thepre-PFC circuit stop working.

l When the PFC output voltage < 340 V DC, the post-DC/DC conversion circuit stopsworking.

The PFC output over/under-voltage protection is implemented through hardware. Theprecision of the voltage is ±10 V and the hysteresis width is (15 ± 10) V.

7.3 Output Over-Voltage ProtectionThe output over-voltage protection circuit prevents the DC output filter capacitor andpowered devices from damage due to voltage loop failure.

The output over-voltage protection threshold is (61 ± 1) V, which is unmodifiable. Whenthe output voltage exceeds (61 ± 1) V, the rectifier disables output and will not enable ituntil the fault is eliminated after power-off and the rectifier is restarted.

7.4 Output Over-Current ProtectionThe output over-current protection circuit prevents the rectifier from being damaged dueto the fault of output current limit circuit.

To avoid over-current protection prior to current limit protection, the response ofover-current protection is set to be slower than current limit protection, and the over-currentprotection threshold is set to be higher than the maximum current limit threshold.

The over-current protection threshold of the rectifier is (36 ± 2) A.

The output over-current protection is a kind of backup protection and is configured as"unrecoverable". It does not act generally; however, once the over-current protectionis activated, the function will not recover until the fault is eliminated and the rectifier isrestarted.

7.5 Over-Temperature Protection and Fan SpeedControl

According to the temperature of the radiator, the fan may work at full speed or half speed.

l When the temperature is over 50 °C, the fan works at full speed.l When the temperature is below 50 °C, the fan works at half speed.

The radiator temperature may keep increasing when the fan is faulty or it is working atfull speed. Therefore, a negative temperature coefficient thermistor is used to prevent therectifier from being damaged due to over-temperature. The over-temperature protectionis as follows:

l When the temperature exceeds the temperature protection threshold, the post-DC/DCconversion circuit stops working.

l When the temperature is below the temperature protection threshold, the post-DC/DCconversion circuit starts to work.
