Driving Miss Daisy - Sidekick Theater
Set in mid-century Atlanta, the play, Driving Miss Dai-
sy, tells the story of an elderly Jewish matron, Daisy
Werthan, and her chauffeur, Hoke Coleburn. At first,
Daisy is none to happy about being forced to rely on a
black man to get from one place to the next. Gradual-
ly, however, Hoke wins her over, and during the 25-year span of the play,
the two develop a deep-rooted affection.
This Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece is a delicate depiction of simmer-
ing racial tensions, the inevitable passage of time, and the universal expe-
rience of aging. Playwright Alfred Uhry creates two outsiders who come to
a mutual respect, each one grounded in their staunch independence, un-
bending strength, and stubborn integrity. In 1988, Driving Miss Daisy won
the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Best Off-Broadway Play. The play was
then produced as a Hollywood movie starring Jessica Tandy, Morgan Free-
man and Dan Akroyd. In 1990, the movie version won 4 Academy Awards
including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Makeup.
Don’t miss this LIVE performance of a timeless masterpiece with Mary Kay
Fortier as Daisy, Eric Wood as Hoke, and Dann Peterson as Boolie!
Enjoy the performance in the elegant theatre of Ives Auditorium in Bloom-
ington. A delicious meal of Baked chicken breast with herb cream sauce,
seasonal vegetables, rolls, parsley potatoes, dessert and coffee/tea will be
served prior to the performance. Price includes transportation, lunch and
matinee. Registration closes on February 7 or when full.

From Ava to Eternity - Sidekick Theater
We know the voice, but we never bothered getting to know the man. In
order to do that, we have to start at the beginning… In this full-length dra-
matic musical, Francis Albert Sinatra is just another kid from Hoboken
who wants to make it big and become a star. Watch as he finds out just
how rough a path lies ahead of him... Experience his professional rise and
fall from grace, his tempestuous romance with Ava Gardner, and his tri-
umphant Oscar-winning career turnaround in 'From Here to Eternity' in

sical, 'Unsung'. Accompanied by the sounds of an on-stage orchestra, and
featuring hits including "I've Got the World On A String", "All of Me" and

high enough. Desperate for a sure thing, Nathan bets Sky he can’t get
date with Sarah Brown, the earnest proprietor of the Save-a-Soul mission.

Long-Term Care Insurance - Does it make sense? Recent legislative changes now allow the implementation of new long-term
care insurance products that remove the major complaints that many have
had about traditional policies: high annual premiums at the start with the
likelihood of even higher annual premiums in the future due to rate in-
creases. But does this new product really make more financial sense than
the older (and still-available) traditional policies? This advanced class is
for those who may have ever wondered about buying long-term care insur-
ance OR for those who already have it. This class shows how to accurately
compare the cost-effectiveness of different policies from different compa-
nies. Learn what options should be avoided, where the "gotchas" are often
hidden in the fine print, and what is the "best" age to buy. Understand the
pros and cons of group plans available from many employers. This class
provides the analytical tools for you to design the “right” policy if you de-
cide to buy a policy – and the tools to decide if you should keep your exist-
ing policy. Instructor: Gerard Goulet, 507-269-9036.
