2010 marked a special year for ZTechnik – our 10th An-niversary! We were very busy in 2010-11 taking the timeto do what we do best: design and engineer specializedaccessories for the BMW® enthusiast. HOW DOES VSTREAM WORK?ZTechnik revolutionized windscreen performance with theirVStream® windscreens. They are well known not only for superiorwind-deflecting comfort but also for a riding environment that is calm andquiet. In order to create a more comfortable ride, other manufacturersoffer extra-tall windscreens or spoiler tops to try to lift the air stream. ButZTechnik designed, for the first time ever, a windscreen with contours cal-culated and adjusted to manage the riding environment.

QUIETThe airflow pattern of the wake from most windscreens is called a vanKarman vortex. At speeds of 50-90 mph, the air swirls off the windshieldin an approximate 90-degree rotational vortex. It then hits the bottom ofthe rider’s neck on the way up, and curves off the shoulders at approxi-mately 45 degrees. The VStream is named for its unique patented “V”shape. This design quiets the ride because it pushes that vortex out andaway from the side of the rider’s head. The rider then experiences an en-vironment with irritating wind noise reduced.

“Just wanted you to know my thoughts on the Z2417 VStream® Windshieldthat I just installed on my 2006 R 1200 GS Adventure.“The OEM screen on the Adventure is probably the best that I have seen in along time. However, you still get some buffeting around the head and shoulders,particularly behind vans, SUVs, etc. One other issue with the OEM screen, be-sides buffeting, was when I am going uphill and approaching the crest of thehill, with a downhill on the other side, you must look through a pretty severedistortion in the screen...
