Zoomazium at Woodland Park Zoo Seattle, WA Encourage play and motivate exploration of the natural world APA worked with Woodland Park Zoo and architectural partners to plan and design the Zoomazium gallery. The goal was to create fun, nature- themed activities that inspire children up to 8 eight years-old to explore nature in their own backyards. Conceptualized and designed by APA, the exhibits won the Themed Entertainment Association Award for Outstanding Achievement for a Zoo Exhibit in 2006. At the Zoomazium, children are connected to the natural world through a variety of imaginative, whole-bodied play opportunities. Young adventurers climb a mountain, slide through a forest, investigate the depths of a water hole in the savanna and traverse a rope bridge suspended in a tree canopy. Zoomazium’s Nature Exchange extends the experience beyond the gallery space, encouraging children to continue their inquiry and exploration of the world outside through ethical collecting and barter.
