Zoo Trip
By Maggie 10/19/10
What I would like to know….
Questions• How much money do
they get paid?• What type of jobs are
their in a zoo keeper career?
• How many hours do they usually work?
Answers• The average zookeeper
makes about $24,000 annually.
• There are many different types of jobs in the zoo keeper career some starting at just cleaning and others manage the zoo.
• They usually work 8 hours a day for 365 days a year.
Zookeeper DutiesBefore the visit
I thought zookeepers…
• I think that they feed all the animals.
• I think that they have to clean out the cages.
• I think that they play games with them.
• I also think that they make them better when they are sick.
After the visit I learned zookeepers…
• I learned that zookeepers never touch any of the bigger animals.
• I learned that the zoo we went to has a little over 800 animals and only 8 full time zoo keepers.
• I also learned that they work 365 days a year.
Zoo Visit Reflection
• I was most surprised by how many days they work a year.
• I not like a zoo related career because I don’t like cleaning up after animals.
• My favorite part of the zoo visit was going around and seeing all the animals and getting to pet them.
Construction Camp
By Maggie10/20/10
What I did at Architecture/Construction Camp
• At construction camp I learned how to screw dry wall to the wall. I also learned how they use GPS with construction. At camp we got to see how they create 3-dimensional images and I learned about all the careers that they have in construction.
Architecture/Construction Camp Reflection
• I was surprised by how many jobs are offered for construction.
• My favorite activity at camp was getting to do the hands on work because it was fun to learn how they use all the tools and what they use them for.
• I would not like to pursue a career in the Architecture/Construction related cluster because I wasn’t that interested in it when we were there is isn't something I could picture myself doing for the rest of my life.
