20TH ANNUAL

Page 2: Zinfandel Festival 2012

ZINFANDEL IS MORE THAN A

WINEGRAPE, it is a heritage. Zinfandel

personifies the culture and traditions

of Paso Robles Wine Country. With

each vintage, the trials and successes

of grapegrowers are transformed

through the vision of winemakers. Old

vines marry with innovation, capturing

depth of body, while maintaining a

delicate balance of texture, boldness

and acidity - qualities characteristic to

Paso Zinfandel. With complex flavors,

bright fruit, and intense color, each

glass encourages a celebration of food,

wine, and people.

March 16 – 18, 2012, Paso Robles Wine

Country celebrates the historical and

continued significance of Zinfandel

in Paso Robles Wine Country during

the 20th Annual Zinfandel Festival.

This twenty year milestone is brought

to life on Saturday, March 17, 2012

through the vibrant Zin Tasting & Wine

Country Auction, showcasing Zinfandel

wines, complimentary gourmet bites,

and Wine Country Auction lots. Visit

www.pasowine.com or call 800.549.WINE

to secure your tickets. Taste the wines,

enjoy the cuisine, and bid on Wine Country

Auction items - a complete Zin experience

to commemorate two decades of Zin Fest.

VISIT THE WINERIES

Continue the Zinfandel celebration by

exploring the wineries and vineyards of

Paso Robles Wine Country. Join more

than 150 wineries for a selection of

barrel tastings, winemaker dinners,

vineyard tours, laid-back barbecues,

live music, and more. Wineries in this

booklet with a next to their

name and noted on www.pasowine.com

are offering specials to ticketholders

of the Zin Tasting. Keep your ticket at

hand throughout the weekend to take

advantage of these special offers. Use

this booklet or visit www.pasowine.com

to help plan your memorable Zin-filled

weekend in Paso Robles Wine Country.

ABOUT THE COVER

The inspiration for the 2012 Zinfandel Festival

cover artwork is a six-foot tall sculpture

depicting a virtual corkscrew plunging

into the ground awakening the earth and

liberating the primitive characteristics and

terroir of the Paso Robles AVA. The rendering

that you see here is one artist’s interpretation

of the sculpture, which itself will be complete

in time for the 30th Annual Paso Robles

Wine Festival (May 18 - 20, 2012), and will be

showcased at the Wine Country Auction &

Dinner as a premier auction lot.

Julia is an illustrator and designer based in Los Angeles,

California. She creates works driven through experimental

colors and organic line-work contrasted by hard, angular

forms. Unusual and whimsical subject matter are sought

out for their offering of intrigue and conflict for the

viewer, with themes ranging from deep space to melting

organics. The exploration of these themes, contrasted

with her techniques, whether executed through digital

or traditional media, allows Julia to offer a unique

perspective of her visual world. Graduating from the

University of Wisconsin-Madison with a concentration

in graphic design, Julia utilizes her formal,

academic training to mix design foundations

with her personal drawing experiments.

RETURN TO PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY

HARVEST WINE WEEKEND – OCTOBER 19 – 21, 2012

Paso Robles Wine Country Harvest Wine Weekend celebrates the annual winegrape

harvest. This weekend is the perfect time to visit wineries to learn about their harvest

practices, try new vintages and see what happens when wine country kicks it into

high gear for harvest. Every year, on the third weekend in October, wineries plan

events to give you a taste of harvest and to celebrate the new vintage. Tailor this

weekend to fit your own desires. Visit www.pasowine.com in August to plan your

weekend by activity, winery or day.

CRAVE: A PASO ROBLES WINE EXPERIENCE – OCTOBER 26, 2012

CRAVE is making its grand return October 2012! Give into your craving at this young,

upbeat and refreshed wine tasting in San Luis Obispo. This tasting combines music, food

and wine to create a unique atmosphere where you not only drink wine but learn about

the entire wine tasting experience. Created to introduce millennial wine consumers to

all that the world of wine has to offer, CRAVE is an experience you don’t want to miss.

Visit www.pasowine.com in August for more details about this year’s CRAVE event and

to purchase your tickets.

For more information on all Paso Robles Wine Country events and happenings visit

www.pasowine.com.

PASO ROBLES, A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT YEAR-ROUND

Remember, even when it isn’t Zinfandel Festival Weekend, Paso Robles is a beautiful

place to visit with great wines available all year long. Check out events happening

here throughout the year or come anytime and create your own Paso Robles Wine

Country experience.

PASO ROBLES WINE FESTIVAL – MAY 18 – 20, 2012

Take part in the 30th Annual Paso Robles Wine Festival, one of the largest outdoor wine

festivals in California. Held the third full weekend in May, the Paso Robles Wine Festival

brings together more than 70 wineries to showcase all that Paso Robles Wine Country

has to offer. In addition to the tasting held in Downtown Paso Robles, wineries will be

hosting activities at their individual locations. This is a busy weekend in Paso Robles, so

plan ahead by booking a hotel room well in advance. More information about the Wine

Festival will be available at www.pasowine.com. Check the website regularly to stay up

to date on all the plans for this year’s 30th Wine Festival.
