Torque determination without torque measuring shaft

1. The knowledge about torque o motors o ten allows deep insight o thedriven process. With mechanically ope-rated stirring and mixing units you canappoint the viscosity o the ready mix

by the driving torque. Taking samplesor analysing and therewith breakingprocess will be omitted.

2. Production fow can be controlledmore e ectively i e ciency degreeo the driving motor is known.Especially with pump drives thehydraulic operation point can be set

through the ed mechanical power.

3. To avoid down times maintenanceshould only be done i possible whenthe admissible limit o deterioration isreached. The exact identi cation o thedeterioration through change o bearing

riction is essential or the use o thismaintenance concept.

The above mentioned examplesshow the huge possible advantages o torque and power measurement at anydrives. A classical torque sha t is o tennot convenient or this application.Fitting o a mechanical measure sha tdemands more costs and in most casesyou can not retro t it because o shor-tage in space. A mobile monitoringset demounting the drive also doesn’tserve avoiding downtime.

Therewith the huge application eldor priceless and portable torque and

power measurement in middle accuracyhas been made available: An elegantmathematical operation in the so t-ware o precision power meter LMG450and LMG500 by ZES ZIMMER calculatesthe torque sha t o asynchronous ma-chines and the actual rotation speedregarding slip. For this you don’t needany mechanical encroachment and nocalibration o the uncoupled motor. The voltage and current measuring orregular power is ully su cient or themeasurement. Current measuring canalso be done without assembly work byuse o high precision current clamps.

To determine torque with typical

2% allowance you only need to insertnominal motor data rom the typeplate into a input mask o the LMG.The torque and revolution determina-tion unctions at mains and also with

requency inverters and therewith it isuniversally useable.

The mechanic data are calculatedcontinuous in every measuring cycle(beginning at 50ms) rom the latestmeasurement and are available overinter ace and display. This also enablesthe analyses o the dynamic per or-mance (vibrations, resonance’s) inthe operating range o asynchronousmotors.

Determination o torque and rotation speedo motors acc. IEC 38, ed by requency inver-ters or directly by 3-phase net. Calculation bymeans o electrical measurements o LMG andcatalogue data o motor without any use o mechanical torque and speed sensors. Measure-ment inaccuracy between no-load operation

and 1.5 old nominal torque typical below 2%o nominal torque resp. o rotation speed.

Fig. 4 Optional parameter input on the PC:For com ortable input o the motor data’s and also or theadministration o a lot o di erent motor data sets a PC

program is provided. The PC isn’t needed anymore a ter datainput and the motor data’s have been send to the LMG.

Fig. 1 Input values o 250W-Motor To be flled into the input mask o the LMG internal script editor: ratings (nominal datas) o the type label o themotor, the ohmic stator resistance (copper resistance)measured between its terminals.

Fig. 2 Overview display This display shows the overview to control all input values and also it calculates the mechanical and all other quantities o the running measurement.
