2nd wife to my maternal grandfather, out of 3 wives.
Polygamy was rife, even condoned and respected within a Chinese feudal system. Married at the age of 16, bore 11 children, 3 died before reaching adulthood.
Grandfather passed away when she was in her 30’s, as with the 1st wife. Hierarchy wise she ascended into the role of the family’s matriarch.
Acting CEO over the family’s business, Cheong Chee. At its peak was a major diversified company: properties, cocoa plantations, gold mines, shares in listed companies etc.
Cheong Chee empire eventually died a tragic death due to mismanagement, incompetent leaders, clash over Western meritocracy & competency vs. Chinese nepotism & cronyism.
Passed away at 86 years old, fearing that her ‘Chieftain’ in the netherworld would reprimand her…

Why Pearl?
According to early Chinese civilization, pearls symbolizes wisdom acquired through years of
experience and struggles.
These luminescent spheres are believed to attract wealth and luck as well as offer protection. Known for their calming effect, pearls can balance one's karma,
strengthen relationships, and keep children safe. The pearl is also said to symbolize the purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of
