Groundwater Remediation", a $1.5 Million DOE funded project (Phase I and II). • Studied the sorption, retardation, decomposition, and transport of heavy metals and

chlorinated compounds by permeable barriers in batch, column and field scale. • Tested barrier performance (a retardation barrier as represented by surfactant-modified

zeolite and a degradation barrier as represented by zero valent iron) at a pilot field scale based on engineering criteria.

• Developed materials (surfactant-modified zeolite, clay, iron; Fe2+-exchanged zeolite and clay) for groundwater and sewage water treatments.

• Designed, developed and implemented methods for environmental sample analysis, including analysis of VOCs by GC; semivolatiles, cations and anions by HPLC and IC.
