In January 2008, at MacWorld in San Francisco, Brenthaven unveiled its three-prong strategy for achieving Zero Impact on the environment by building laptop cases that last a lifetime (and guaranteeing it with an unconditional lifetime guarantee); reducing what we can through eco-friendly business practices; and offsetting what we cannot through investments in green initiatives.

Scott Armstrong, CEO of Brenthaven, commented, ‘2008 was a pivotal year for Brenthaven as we embarked on our mission to mitigate the footprint we leave on the planet. We are proud of what we have accomplished this year and look forward to making even greater strides toward the ultimate goal of Zero Impact in 2009.’

In 2008, Brenthaven achieved the following:

• Invested 5% of profits in green initiatives • Eliminated over 100,000 cardboard boxes by rethinking our product strategy• Packaged products in biodegradable poly bags that are compostable • Reduced annual car miles driven by 30% by giving employees incentives to walk, bike or take public transportation to work• Eliminated PVC from all retail products• Printed all marketing materials on recycled paper using soy based inks • Commissioned a consulting project to determine our carbon footprint• Invested in carbon credits to offset the impact of all products purchased on Brenthaven.com• Offset the impact of our operations in our Bellingham and Seattle offices with Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)

In 2009, Brenthaven is again setting the standard for environmental stewardship by committing to achieve the following:
