ZEALOUS FOR GOOD DEEDS

TEXT: EPH. 2:10; TITUS 2:14

INTRO


Often the success of an undertaking depends on the attitudes or morale of those doing the work!

If attitudes are not proper, the work may not get done,

or get delayed (Neh. 4:10): Attitude towards safety: Injuries or death could result. Attitude towards success: Defeatism could doom work to

failure at outset. Attitude towards morale: Low morale could delay work, and

even stop it altogether.Nehemiah 4:1010. Thus in Judah it was said, "The strength of the burden bearers is

failing, Yet there is much rubbish; And we ourselves are unable To rebuild the wall."

INTRO


Christians have work to do & are to be zealous to do them

If we do not have the proper attitudes, our work could

be hindered or stopped too!There is much to do and saints need to be

zealousfor good works to possess the proper

attitudesto get it done!

Eph. 2:1010. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good

works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Titus 2:1414. who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed,

and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

A POWERFUL FAITH


If we do not think we can do something, we are not going

to try it The spies sent by Moses to spy out Canaan (Num. 13:17ff;

14:11-12)Through faith “all things are possible” with God! (Phil. 4:13) Mt. 17:14-20: Jesus’ disciples failed in

casting out demons – their faith was small

Our faith will see us through; we can overcome life’s trials (Eph. 6:16; I Jn. 5:4)

Mt. 5:1616. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see

your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

A powerful faith will have one rely on God & accomplish

much for Him!

A JOYFUL HEART


We should not be despondent and downhearted! I Pet. 3:15; Phil. 4:4 (I Thess. 5:16); Rom. 8:18; Phil. 3:20

We have so many good things for which to be thankful! We are forgiven of our sins (Eph. 1:7) We are the children of God (I John 3:1-3) We have all spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3) We will receive the crown of life (II Tim.

4:7-8) There is a home prepared for us in

heaven (Jn. 14:2-3)

Phil. 4:44. Rejoice in the Lord

always; again I will say, rejoice!

With an attitude of joy, working for God will hardlyseem like work!

A CONTINUAL RELIANCE ON PRAYER


Js. 5:16: The prayer of the righteous accomplishes much!

God listens to the prayer of the righteous! (I Pet. 3:12)We know that: God answers prayer (Mt. 7:7-11,

21:18-22) Prayer is the strap that holds the

Armor of God together (Eph. 6:18) Prayer changes things (Js. 5:16-18)

Js. 5:1616. Therefore, confess

your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

The righteous are to have an attitude of

constant communion with God in prayer!

(I Thess. 5:17)

A PERSONAL LOVE


We must have a love for the Lord! Jn. 14:23-24; I John 5:3

We must possess a love for the brethren! I Jn. 4:20-21 (Jn. 13:34-35); Heb. 10:23-

25, 13:1 (I Cor. 1:10; Phil. 2:1-4)

I Jn. 5:33. For this is the love of

God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

We must have love for the lost! Lk. 19:10 ; Luke 15:1-7 (II Tim. 2:24-26; II Cor. 5:10-11)

If you do not have love you will not care enough to be

zealous for good deeds! (I Cor. 13:1-3)

A PERSISTENT EFFORT


Persistency of effort is the secret of success! Lk. 18:1-8; I Thess. 5:16-17

Application: Noah (Gen. 6:3; I Pet. 3:20) Nehemiah (Neh. 4:10, 18, 21) Paul (Phil. 3:12-15)

Neh. 4:18, 2118. As for the builders,

each wore his sword girded at his side as he built, while the trumpeter stood near me.

21. So we carried on the work with half of them holding spears from dawn until the stars appeared.

We must not be discouraged by

lack of results! Persistence is not giving up when

results are lacking (Acts 17:32-33) We will not be condemned for a lack of

results but will be for a lack of effort (Mt. 25:14-30)A persistent attitude will not letdiscouragement slow us down or

stop us from working for the Lord!


CONCLUSION

Do you have what it takes to work for the Lord?

Is your light shining?

Or is it hid under a basket?

If the work of the Lord is going to be accomplished, it will

be by those who are: Faithful, Joyful, Prayerful, Loving, and Persistent!

Be zealous for good works!
