'Unplasticized Polyvinylchloride' (u.P.V.C) is used extensively throughout the

world, especially in European countries in the building industry to manufacture items

such as water and drain pipes, gutters and electrical conduits to name a few, and is also

used to extrude window and door frames. Its rigid and durable qualities make uPVC an

ideal material for this application.

Most people are familiar with the benefits that uPVC brings to the window

latest window manufacturing equipment. Saws used are computer-controlled for

accuracy and welding equipment is computer programmed so that each weld is perfect

hand all the way through the manufacturing process by people who care to make sure

you get the best product possible, all the time.

What is uPVC?

Unplastisized Polyvinyl chloride or 'uPVC' is a modern synthetic material and an

important member of the extensive polymers 'family'.

Formed from two natural resources - salt (57 per cent) and oil (43 per cent) - PVC was

one of the earliest plastics to be developed commercially. Now it is among the most

widely used, with an enormous variety of applications in modern life, from children's

toys to pipes, window profiles, cables and blood bags. In 1996, world consumption

amounted to an estimated 23.3 million tones, of which 5.21 million tones was in

Western Europe.

Energy Efficient No matter what climate our windows and doors are used in - they contribute to a cozy

and comfortable environment for your home. In a contemporary air-conditioned

building, windows with a low thermal conductive material can reduce the loss of energy

according to the fact that 37% of interior energy loss is through the window. The

decisive factors of the thermal conductivity are the material of window profile and the

selection of glass. The thermal conductivity of uPVC is 0.14 kcal/m.hr ° C, that is 1/1250

of Aluminum (175 kcal/m.hr ° C). ZealCon windows have been designed with multi

chambers which also reduce the transfer of heat. The K value of ZealCon window is 1.4

kcal/m 2.hr ° C, and the K value of aluminum window is 16.3 kcal/m 2.hr ° C. For

example, the K value of ZealCon window glazing with 5mm single pane is 4.5 kcal/m 2.hr

° C, but the K value of aluminum window with the same glass is 7.6 kcal/m 2.hr ° C.

Therefore, ZealCon windows can reduce the energy loss over 30%, and is the best

ENERGY SAVING WINDOW.

Sound Proofing Designs of ZealCon Windows are multi-chambered profile with tight seals which makes

them the best windows in noise separation and gives you an average sound separation

Weather Resistance High weather resistant quality is achieved by anti-ultraviolet and high impact resistant

formulation. It can withstand long exposure to extreme weather changes under

scorching sun, storms, dryness, high humidity. No quality deterioration occurs in our

windows. Even in special conditions of coastal areas (salt, storm, sun) uPVC is not only

applicable but best suited. They do not rot, corrode nor warp and even after many

years, the windows are still attractive, perfectly tight and working well.

Are all plastics equal?

No. The great advantage offered by plastics is that they can be custom-

engineered for a particular application. A slight change in a plastic’s molecular structure

can result in substantial changes of its properties. That’s why all plastics are not the

same, especially when it comes to window profiles.

Aren’t uPVC windows all the same?

No. Even outwardly different windows can be completely different on the inside.

The quality of the material, stability and durability, design and processing quality are

different as are profile design, sealing, and system variety. Expert installation and

integration are of paramount importance as well.

How can I tell good quality uPVC?

One way to assess the effectiveness of a frame is to examine the thickness

(depth from inside to out). Ideally choose 60 mm thickness and ask about the thickness

of the PVC in the frame - a multi-walled (not solid) section should be 1.8 - 2.0 mm.

Where is uPVC used in construction?

uPVC is as common in pipes, roof gutters, façade cladding, roofing, light-diffusing

walls, interior fixtures, cable ducting, and signs as it is in windows and rolling/folding

shutters. Its long service life makes it both an economical as well as environmentally

safe solution.

Why should I go with uPVC products rather than aluminum and woods?

Unlike other material, uPVC will not rot, corrode or otherwise be affected by sun,

humidity, salt, pests, rodents or other harsh elements

What types of windows are available?

There´s the traditional casement window - side or top opening (sometimes known as an awning) - and these can sit alongside fixed (non-opening) windows. There are also Vertical Sliders; there´s an array of tilt and turn options where windows tilt back for ventilation and then turn to open and most popular sliding windows.

How about the thermal insulation properties of various window materials?

uPVC and wood provide marked thermal insulation, meaning their thermal conductivity is extremely low. By contrast, the thermal conductivity of aluminum is 1,000 times greater. Cold bridges are generally interrupted by using uPVC bars. Apart from the profile design, the type of glazing used is also of paramount importance.
