Tripartism Africa (Zambia)-China-Europe (France) allows for small and medium French companies in particular the ones which could not enter the Zambian market by lack of funding . in 2013. This mar-ked the eight year ina row in which theeconomy grew above5 percent.Inflation stood at 7.1%

with a per capita GDPof 1,621 USD.The government hasremained steadfast inpromoting private sec-tor development andas such, it has imple-mented a number ofreforms to ease thehustles that private bu-siness may go throughto open and operate a

business. This has resulted in increased foreign direct in-vestment inflows into Zambia from barely over a USD 100million a decade ago to over USD 2 billion currently. Zambia, with a population of 14 million people provides ahuge market of over 500 million people as it a member ofboth COMESA and SADC free trade areas. In addition,Zambia has various bilateral trade agreements and alsoexports to the European Union under the everything butarms initiative, to China under the Chinese trade initiative,to Japan under the Japanese trade initiative and to theUnited States of America under the African Growth andOpportunity Act (AGOA). In terms of ease of doing busi-ness, Zambia is ranked number 83 out of 189 countriessurveyed by the World Bank. Itis also looking for investors to invest in pineapple and cot-ton growing and cluster development.– Energy: With up to 2000 MW capacity to generate hydropower, the country only generates up to 1,700 MW henceopportunities exist to develop hydro power stations. In ad-dition, development of mini hydro power stations is beingsought.– Mining: Copper mining has dominated the sector butother minerals exist such as iron, manganese, coal, nickel, gemstones and industrial minerals ready for explorationand development.

Conclusion

Zambia and France have enjoyed good political and eco-nomic relations. French companies such as Lafarge group,Total, Bollore logistics, CFAO have already invested inZambia. With the Agreement on Investment Promotion andProtection between Zambia and France already in place,it would be wise to ride on these platforms and invest inZambia. Surely with all these economic indicators pointingin the right direction, there can never be a better time toinvest in Zambia than now as the old adage says “the ear-liest bird catches the worm”.

MY IMPRESSIONS :

Zambia, land of opportunity, still unknown but where to go!

Zambia country is booming, Zambian people only as-pire to take advantage of new technologies whilemaintaining their cultural and social standards. Zam-bian people appreciate French people but unfortuna-tely we, French, do not know enough about this greatcountry. At the beginning of the meeting at the embassy, wesaw a short film about the country; it was quite ama-zing! Nothing to do with what you might think or notthink about this country... It is essential to discover thiscountry; the few French who have taken the plungeare very satisfied. With the share growth and fundinginvestment that Chinese can bring, it becomes the icingon the cake! You do not have time to waste, come and discover thissouthern African country and you will be convincedthat there are opportunities and a business future foryou.Zambia is home to a rich biodiversity with a widevariety of flora and fauna and this while being in ur-banization and a growing development; True, in Zam-bia people speak english, but the language should notbe a barrier as the Zambian people are very accessi-ble and accommodating. Of course, Croissance PEACE can help you throughcontacts, friends and all persons who understand thesesides of this country. They will be happy to share withyou this exciting country.
