Applications of 3D

Models – The view on models, 3D models to be precise, is that looking at the procedure on when building on the development of the model we will be introduced to images which will be graphical that are three-dimensional. When observing this, we utilise applications such as Unity, Gimp and Blender as well as many more, this is for when influencing and controlling the images.

Product Design – Looking at product design this is having a model which is 3D meaning the product is three dimensional. What the user gains from three-dimensional modelling is being able to have strength when visualising the product as it is dimensional. When the product is created, it is quite simple due to its versatility and being a 360 degree, you can play around with it.

Animation – When creating the 3D models, we mainly look for the action that comes with the product. With graphical images such as the three-dimension images being made animation plays a huge role in activating the product and making it come to life. As we are humans, we seek for movement within the three-dimensions.

Television – When watching the television, graphical designers are always used for their work in creating characters and cartooned designs. Examples of this can be in things like “CompareTheMeerkat” when they make use of the meerkat to advertise a serious company, however this adds humour and entertainment by utilising three-dimensional images which is animated.

Film – In movies there are many different ways 3D animations are used however graphic designers know to do a good job that it looks very realistic. An example of this would be when in Action, Drama movies where they may use guns however gunshots are fired, this manipulates humans to believing it is real and makes the movie look more realistic and believable.

Web – On the covers of websites they make use of JavaScript API, this is used in making the name and bloating up the texts to have it more seen. There are no plug ins however the text has things included such as Games, 3D imagery when events may be taking place. GOOGLE most times have different banners for different countries when it’s the independence.

Games – In games you will find the most three-dimension designs as they make a large amount of use of animations with their characters. An example of this is in FIFA as real players are created however into a 3D format. The players also each has their own abilities whether it be running, stamina and functions

which effects their performance in matches – this is through the use of animations.

- This image shows when the player has been created however by the use of affects you can edit the three-dimensional image and change the looks, appearance and

abilities.

- In this image the player is running however as the notices any design there will be use of animation such as kicking the ball to pass

over to his team mates which are other dimensional shapes.

Education – In educational sites and work places dimensional shapes are used sometimes to help study. An example of this is in Maths when children may

learn to add numbers, they may learn this through dimensional shapes using animation to move a number of steps, however the concept will be to learn how to add or take away numbers. This video shows how kids can learn to count adding numbers. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSqGCY_L6CYAlso, in todays world as there are many apps being developed gives are able to play games on iPad, Phones etc where they can access education games on apps which are like videos however more interactive that you can play games and learn your additional , subtractions.

Architecture - In the architectural world, three-dimensional modelling is extremely significant when designing. The way 3D shapes is implemented in this work industry is, when they are planning on making a building they will start off by creating a plan using 3D shapes and understand how they want to structure out the building they will be creating. This is extremely vital in their job as any mistakes will have an economical crisis.

- In this image I have shown, indicates the project development which is used for architecture by the software Blender. This is a plan of

an upcoming building.

Displaying 3D polygon animations

Application programming interface - Direct3D is a popular graphics application programming interface

which is condensed down to API. The Direct3D is genuinely an application which is used on three dimensional graphical designs to enhance and design designs which is aims in the direction use for Games and have a speciality for that industry type of designs.

- OpenGL is identified as the open graphics library which uses the computer with interface when programming. This is genuinely used to define modelling graphical images ranging from 2 or 3 dimensional graphic images.

-Graphics Pipeline & Rendering Techniques

- Modelling: Modelling is the method which is genuinely used when emerging and reconstructing a prototypical which had its own original form. The reason for this to edit an existing design.

- Lighting: The use of lighting comes in through many directions when focusing on the 3D models. This plays a vital role in the process of making the 3D graphical images due to the fact that it helps understand the model even more as it highlights parts. In the dimensional graphical images

- Radiosity is vital and is huge in this industry. To conclude without lighting in the three-dimensional models, they will not look alive. Radiosity can be seen as having the total radiation which gives reflections of life and characterises shadows.

- Viewing: The screening and how it looks is very vital as it needs to hold a message when producing graphical models.

- Projection: The projection is the layout and sizing of how you want the model to be. This includes having dimensional

points which consist of three. They’re genuinely based of the pixel information and they’re usually widespread.

Scan Conversion: The scan conversion is very vital as this is used in the media, movie and television industry in general. This is when there may be a human person and then they will go through a process where they will be scanned and then used in either movie, advertisement or gaming.

- In this image on the left is a Football player, David Luiz who is an normal human being but for FIFA he went through the scan conversion and recreated a cartoon figure of him.

Texture: This is significant method when editing the models as it has connections with the uses of light and interact with rendering. This is shading and having light reflections.

Ray Tracing: The ray tracing is a commonly used method when editing three-dimensional graphics. This is used for having total sums of waves and focuses on the pixels in images.

Fogging: Fogging is a special effect collaborated with shadowing in order to create or give of different moods on dimensional models. For instance, you may have an extremely bright picture including the sunset when it is extremely bright, using the fogging effect you can bring the brightness down to make it look gloomy and dim which gives a cooling, low mood.

Level of Detail: The level of detail combined with rendering is extremely significant due to three-dimensional modelling as it can change the properties of the model. When you have more properties that you need to work with, this can pro-long the process of render, as it has different entity. Geometric Theory

Vertices: The vertices are when you may have points such as co-ordinates within a shape. The way this can be presented may be through dots which are single or arrows which are join together from different angles. Some models can become more advanced as they’re added on.

Lines: The lines within the vertices is when you may line linked and joint. The way this works is that if these is a vertices and any amendments need to be made then, the lines are edited, this encourages the vertex to be changed.

Curves: The curve within the lines is usually constructed through the two vertices in which are joint and being overextended. The curves are just as equal as the lines however do have complex vertex altered when they’re similar lines.

Edge: The edge is simply within the line has a face, this will always be carried out by the two vertices as the corners meet. These can be used to have mesh forming the faces of the lines.

Polygons: In the three-dimension animations the polygons and the dimensions are the same value. They both share the same purpose expect from the fact that the three-dimension needing to rely on the polygon in order to form something whereas the polygons are there own 3D model. However, they’re linked together in order for the vertex points to be together.

Face: The fat is normally a flush sided surface that is a dimension from only two, this produces the mesh. The face is very vital as this creates the model and gives it a good shape and better appearance as well as coarseness. Also, every shape always has a face, in three-

dimensions such as the picture located on the left, the first is always the flat surface that you will always see first.

Primitives: The primitives are the mesh shapes which are necessary for graphical techniques, this helps build the shape. This means the shapes are very versatile as they can form to different types of shapes. The pyramid for example has raised vertex which consists of one, includes faces of five and additional vertices.

Meshes: The meshes are used in order to form creation of the faces, edges and the vertices. These are only dimensional models of 3 as they are versatile and have the ability to form different kinds of shapes. In the past there are numerous methods in developing meshes and this requires the assistance of the wireframe.

Wireframe: The wireframing is a used technique when enquiring to see a shape such as the mesh but without things like the lines and faces. The almost makes the shape unclothed and allows the user in control to amend.

Coordinate geometry: The coordinates geometry is widely used in all industries and this commonly will have vertices such as dimensions of X, Y as well as Z. Having these co-ordinates helps in locating the models and knowing information without researching but having it visually within the name. A prime example of this is the name 2D and 3D as they both represent similar things with different properties.

Surface: The surface is to have curves as well as lines which may have the look of either 3D, but this excludes having volume. Also, the surface is usually the area of the three-dimensional shapes looking at the lengths and widths of the shapes.

Mesh Construction

Box Modelling: Focusing on box modelling, this is genuinely a method which has been created in order to develop models which are quite extreme and well advantaged. The way the procedure works with box modelling is simply having a shape in its most minimalist shape, then expanding it and making it even more complex to add more detail to the shape.

Extrusion Modelling: The extrusion modelling is simple another method which is used with mesh in order to turn to diverse systems. This works like box modelling as it helps extend shapes and making them into the desired models which are cubed and cubic.

3D development software

3D Studio Max: The 3D studio max is an software which is for subscription software requires application where this is open to all users to be able to develop and create three dimensional models from a plan, this gives them the

Page 9: zakariamuhammad122173062.files.wordpress.com…  · Web viewUnit 41: 3D Modelling. Assignment 1 – Understand theory and applications of 3D. Muhammad Zakaria. Applications of 3D.

opportunity to be as open as they want to develop anything. After users create models, they are able to download their desired finished design.

Maya: The Maya program which is for modelling allows the users to develop and create their desired models from their plans they have created. Maya is very in demand and utilised for people in the media industry such as television and gaming medias. The difference between Maya and the 3D studio max is that Maya has less to offer in comparison to 3D max but is more affordable.

Blender: The Blender is a software which is open to the world to use as it has no costs attached at all. As this is free unlike others and easily accessible it is very limited and restricted use. You are able to create games which is mini, this is appropriate to beginners.Houdini: The Houdini is a software which is typically used for the FX industry when creating models for famous films and games. They’re very luxury and have worked with big companies such as the Sony pictures and DreamWorks animation. Houdini is quite pricey however a lot to offer to create professional models.

Lightwave: The Lightwave is another software typically used to solidify the three-dimensional images; they are specialised in many different things as they have reflections which are realistic.

AutoCAD: The AutoCAD is a software which is used when recreating designs which are dimensional. The reason people may use this is for reasons like, businesses who want to make logos and designs for small products. The medical industry has made use of this as well.

Cinema 4D: The Cinema 4D is typically utilised for many varieties of reasons. They’re very versatile and has animations and three-dimensional modelling services. The software is also able capable of having different modifiers ranging from textures and lighting.

Softimage: The Softimage is a out-of-date well-known three dimensional graphics app which has been created by the Softimage. They specialise in things like films and gaming when you are looking to have three dimensional animations as this is used for gaming.

Constraints

Polygon Count: The polygons within the three-dimensional models can be very restricted because the number of factors is dependent on the computer power capability. Therefore, this effects the programs strength.

File Size: When focusing on the three-dimensional shapes, the animation as well the quality of the modelling is a huge factor to consider as better-quality
