Every institution wishes to to digitize or in any other way gain access to its digital collections should consider and adopt digitization policy.

All digitization projects should have defined project goals and products, plan of activites, resposnibilities, resources and evaluation criteria.

Material for digitization has to be carefully elected and prepared for the digitization. The preparation includes metadata preparation as well.

Whenever possible, standardized norms and procedures should be defined and applied.

Digitization program has to consider and offer answers to questions concerning longterm keeping and digital collections management.

Good digitization program keeps the copyright protection at the highest level.

Main Croatian digitization project in the field of cultural heritage.

Project holder is the Ministry of cultre.Project partners are National and university

library in Zagreb, Museum documentation center and Croatian national archive.

Started in 2007., planned to last for 3 years. Program is now in second phase. Languages offered : Croatian and Englsih.

Section “Contribution invitation” offers list of documents and standards which can help the institutions who would like to participate in the program.

Applications for the projcects are opened in July, a year in advance.

content and experiences.To motivate the cooperation among the

cultural institutions.

Digitization leads to creation of recognizable and relevant content and “cultural space” in the electronic surrounding.

Services based on this contetnt are easily available to every interested person.

Created content is shaped and edited according to international standards which support interoperability.

Digital collections can be used in used in development of educational, touristical and other related content.

It provides a possibility to digitize for the institutions with the lower budget.

description of all data available on the portal as well as XML upgrade for future integration to Europeana.

The beginnings of digitization in the Library in 1995, CD-ROM "Croatica" (a selection of two hundred digitized drawings from the Print Collection Fund created in the 19th and 20th century.

Digitized Heritage is an online site which was founded in 2005

The library started with digitization in 2001 (a pilot project of digitization of material in Library).

Access to material that represents a valuable and unique examples of cultural, historical and scientific heritage.

Core of the collection was founded in 1945, as the separation of musical material from the text library holdings.

Since 1964 it collects vinyl records and cassettes, and since 1989 the compact discs and music DVDs.

The whole material is available only for members of the Library.

Works of manuscripts and musical heritage of Croatian composers of which emphasize the work of Lisinski, Blagoje Bersa, Ivan Zajc, Ferdi Livadića, John Padovca, Bozidar Širole, James Gotovca, Fran Lhotka, John Brkanović, Branimir Sakač, Anthony Dobronića, Stanislava and other.
