The aim of the CLSCMP, Logistics and Supply Chain Management program is to produce managers with a sound grasp of current and emerging theories and philoso-phies associated with logistics and supply chains; emphasising relationships with oth-er corporate functions, and other activities of the supply chain process. Students will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the concepts and practices of logistics and supply chains, which can be applied to their own organization or linked to an organization in the public or private sector.
The Logistics and Supply Chain Manage-ment is a specialist program that offers high level strategic teaching in the areas of logis-tics and transport systems, strategic sup-ply chain management, international and global supply network management, distri-bution and warehousing, economic policy and markets, complexity thinking, strategic operations management and project man-agement.
Introduction
Student benefitsIt is our experience that a correlation exists between higher qualifications and success-ful careerdevelopment. This development is increas-ingly geared to the ability of the candidate to demonstrate a credible qualification. Evidence suggests that many students will achieve a significant improvement in employability and/or salary and career pro-gression following successful completion of specialist program. This course will help you to change your think-ing processes, improve your critical thinking, awareness and analytical skills, together with the ability to deal with organizational and func-tional problems. We are the authorized study centre of CIPS (Chartered Institute ofPurchasing and Supply) and our course is endorsed by CILT( Char-tered institute of Logistics and Transport).
In an increasingly competitive environment, organizations need staff who are able todemonstrate competencies, for example, leadership, and strategic decision making that will enable the organization to ‘stand out from the crowd’. As a result, organizations are in-creasingly investing in staff, and need to feel secure in the knowledge that this investment has helped to develop the organization in key functional areas such as logistics, transport and supply chain management.
As current or future senior managers in the new millennium, our graduates are in a bet-ter position to be able to face the rapid and frequent changes inherent in today’s global, dynamic environment. To be able to cope with these changes successfully, it is essential that they possess the appropriate range of compe-tencies suitable for public and private sector organizations across the globe. This program is designed so that both the student and your organization harness these specialist abilities and competences.
Employer benefits
Professional certification offers individu-
als a wide range of important benefits. The
certification designation demonstrates to
current and potential employers that the
employee possesses a solid foundation
of experience and education in a field of
endeavor that can have a positive im-
pact on bottom-line results. Certifica-
tion symbolizes knowledge and ac-
complishment and is highly regarded
by colleagues and employers. As a
certified professional, the employee
can proudly join a successful group
of professionals who are enriching and
advancing their careers and their chosen
professions.
Benefits of ProfessionalCertification
Specific benefits include the following:
Professionalism -- Certification indicates a high level of professionalism to both cowork-ers and customers, increasing one’s value in the market place.
Leadership Certification signifies an employ-ee as dedicated to continuous improvement of himself/herself..
Recognition Only a small fraction of profes-sionals ever achieve certification, indicating that they are a leading professional in their fields.
Knowledge Certification will improve one’s understanding of the most current processes and trends in one’s profession.
Ethical Behavior Individuals who become certified must subscribe to a rigorous code of ethics appropriate to the specific profession.1. Certification helps professionals improve their job skills. 2. Certification can provide the basis for a continuing program of professional devel opment. 3. Certification can contribute to increased departmental performance. 4. Certification can increase the credibility of the department. 5. The time, money, and effort spent on a pro gram of professional certification is a good use of the organization’s resources. 6. A certification program can be developed in an organization that has limited resources.
Does Certification Impact Salary Levels?Research data has shown that employers typically reward certified employees with salaries that are 25 to 40% higher than those who are not certified. A high correla-tion between certification and salary exists for virtually all professions and all indus-tries sampled.
Certification Furthers and Pro-motes Business EthicsAn often overlooked aspect of the pro-fessional certification process is that part relating to ethical standards. All individuals who become members of American professional associations and seek the professional certifications of those organizations must subscribe to a rigorous code of ethics. These codes serve as a “self-policing” system of business eth-ics, thus contributing to the credibility and reputation of the individual who becomes professionally certified, as well as the cred-ibility and reputation of the organization to which they belong.
