It's great to be back after atwo year absence and we are very excited inhaving secured Kevin Archambault as directorand choreographer for this year's production.Kevin, an up and coming director in Austin, hasalready won numerous awards and accolades.Kevin and co-director, Ginger Morris, haveassembled an impressive array of talent, mixingZilker Theatre Production veterans with many"fresh faces" on the hillside stage.

Cast Biographies:Alicia C. Barroh Florinda)

Alicia is a Senior at St. Edward’s University where shewas recently seen in Mary Moody Northen Theatre’sproduction of Once on This Island. Previous creditsinclude Playing for Time, Romeo and Juliet, AFunny Thing Happened on the Way to theForum, and Camelot. She also appeared in AustinMusical Theatre’s Oliver!. Alicia is proud to be makingher Zilker Summer Musical debut.

Jill Blackwood (Cinderella)

Jill last performed on the hillside playing sax and clarinetin the pit orchestra for Guys and Dolls! She has alsoappeared on the Zilker stage in Joseph and theAmazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Other stagecredits include: The Music Man, Oklahoma!, andAnnie (Austin Critic’s Table nomination) for AustinMusical Theatre; The Rocky Horror Show (AustinCritic’s Table nomination) for Zachary Scott Theatre;She Loves Me, Nunsense, and Gifts of the Magi(Austin Critic’s Table nomination) for the State TheatreCompany, the premiere of Shooting Stars, BlueSkies for Mississippi’s New Stage Theatre, and aworkshop production of Joan, a New Rock Operafor Musical Theatre Works in New York City. She isthrilled to have the opportunity to sing with her husbandin this production of Into the Woods.

Tim Blackwood (Baker)

This marks Tim’s fifth appearance on the hillside. Hewas seen last year in The Will Rogers Follies wherehe received an Austin Critics Table Award nominationfor his performance as Will Rodgers. Tim’s other Zilkershows included Joseph and the AmazingTechnicolor Dreamcoat, Little Me, and Into theWoods where he played one of the princes. Tim hasperformed in many shows here in Austin over the past12 years, but sharing the stage with his lovely wife Jillhas made this show very special.

Damon Brown (Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince)

Damon is still surprised anyone will let him onstageafter a “stunt like that.” He’s been performing off andon for most of his life – from Man of La Mancha(Cervantes), and Othello (Iago), to the ubiquitousForever Plaid (Francis, and most recently appearingin a Midwest touring production of Rainmaker(Starbuck). Damon also writes, being most proud of anoriginal play called Birthright, which premiered atthe Singapore Centre for Fathering and starred Damon’sdad. He is making his summer musical debut, and whennot enjoying a balmy summer evening dressed in furpants, Damon works in Austin for Substance TV, a video-magazine (published on DVD) that’s devoted to film,music, and the art and science of modern culture.

Mary Alice is thrilled to be in her first Zilker SummerMusical, especially having seen every one since 1976!Last year, she directed two productions: Petra’sSueno by Ruperto Reyes, Jr. for Teatro Vivo andRoosters by Milcha Sanchez-Scott for DifferentStages. Mary Alice has performed in StephenSondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along and Passion,both directed by Ann Ciccolella and benefiting theAustin Circle of Theaters, The Steadfast TinSoldier, The Wonder Hat, and The King Stagfor Second Youth, and The Mikado, TheGondaliers, and The Pirates of Penzancewith the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. She has servedas production manager for Twelfth Night, directedby Robert Faires and produced by Sneck Up!Productions and VORTEX Repertory Theatre Co., andas stage manager for Fruits and Vegetableswritten and directed by Ann Ciccolella.

Kristen Michelle Ensrude (Little Red Ridinghood)

Kristen is proud to make her Zilker Summer Musicaldebut. She has been a long time Zilker fan nevermissing a show since 1984. She is a Senior atSt. Edward’s University, majoring in Theater andEducation. You may have seen her in Once onThis Island, Day In Hollywood/Night Inthe Ukraine, Conference of the Birds, GoodWomen or Setzuan, all at Mary Moody NorthenTheatre. She also appeared as a chorus memberin Austin Musical Theatre’s The Music Man. Shehas received awards from the Austin Critic’s Tablefor Best Ensemble for Day In Hollywood, and theTexas Education Theatre Association, for outstandingwork as a theatre student in a Texas University.She enjoys teaching Drama to kids at Dancer’sWorkshop and making people laugh.

Dustin Gooch (Rapunzel’s Prince/Asst. Director)

Dustin is ridiculously thrilled to be a part of thisproduction. This marks his second involvement ina musical, as well as his second collaboration withKevin Archambault and Ginger Morris. He has beeninvolved in numerous productions at St. EdwardsUniversity over the past two years. He would liketo thank Kieran for introducing him to this musical;Curtis for his amazing artistic ability and passion fortheatre; Robin for her patience, drive, professionalismand constant support; Kevin for helping meunderstand that musicals are cool, for his extremetalent, love of this show and being an amazing humanbeing; and to Ginger for her critical eye and givingheart, for none of this would be possible without her.And most importantly to mom, dad, and Natalie forallowing him to stay this summer and for supportinghim in his wacky ideas. “This show has been awonderful moment in my life and I know that soon itwill be time to leave the woods. I will have to let themoment go. I won’t forget it for a moment, though.”

Huck Huckaby (Narrator/Mysterious Man)

Other than being a little bit schizophrenic in this show,“No I’m not/Yes I am”, Huck has been performingall over town for the past decade or so. He has beenseen at the following theatres: Zilker TheatreProductions, State Theatre Company, Second YouthFamily Theatre, Violet Crown Players and CCP.Roles include Noble, Andrew, Duke, Various,Bill, Francis, Gandalf, Snoopy, Dr. Seward, a Donkeyand a Rat (make that “leader Rat”). He sings,dances?, and can recite the ABC’s without singingthat song. This is Huck’s fourth Zilker Summer Musical,having been seen in Oklahoma!, Little Me andBig River.

Evie Merryman (Sleeping Beauty/Asst. Stage Mngr)

Evie is ecstatic to be making her Zilker Summer Musicaldebut with Into the Woods, and this unbelievablecast. She is very involved in Bowie High School’s theatredepartment, where she has recently appearedin Sylvia (Sylvia/Assistant Director), Four BaboonsAdoring the Sun (Halcy) and The YellowBoat (Joy/Assistant Director). To Robin, thanksfor taking me under your wing. To Kevin and Ginger,thanks for giving me the gift of this amazingopportunity. I will always be grateful.

Tait Moring (Cinderella’s Father)

Tait has wanted to be in the Zilker Summer Musicalsince he saw their production of Oliver, in 1970.This year he finally auditioned and is debuting inthe summer musical with Into the Woods. A nativeAustinite, Tait has appeared in The PajamaGame, Guys and Dolls, and Jesus ChristSuperstar. He is also a member of River City Pops.

Ernie Pruneda (Jack)

Mr. Pruneda is making his debut performance in theZilker Summer Musical. This Musical Theater Majorat Oklahoma City University, has past theater creditsof Kiss Me Kate (Fred ) and Godspell (Jesus).Additional credits include appearances in LuckyStiff, The King and I, and Falstaff. Ernie was amember of the 2001 Texas All-State Choir. He isalso happy to be working with director GingerMorris again. Their last production together was inMcAllen, Texas, doing the McAllen Parks andRecreation summer theatre production, Just So.

Ann Richards-McKelvey(Cinderella’s Mother, Granny, Baby, Giant)

Ann is happy to be back with her 5th Zilker SummerMusical. Previously she appeared in Big River,South Pacific, Guys and Dolls and Once Upona Mattress. Austin Musical Theatre productionsinclude Sweet Charity, The Sound of Music,Man of La Mancha, Oliver!, Oklahoma!,The Music Man and Jesus Christ Superstar.

State Theatre productions include My Fair Lady,A Christmas Carol, Man of La Mancha, andSweeney Todd. Other credits include Dracula-A Musical Nightmare, Roar of theGreasepaint, Gifts of the Magi, SomeEnchanted Evening and Seven Brides for SevenBrothers. Ann is also an 8th grade teacher.

Coty Ross (Witch)

Coty is thrilled to be making her Zilker Summer Musicaldebut in a show she has long dreamed of being in.Coty was born and raised in Southern California whereshe has performed in such shows as The Music Man,Children of Eden, Phantom, Singing in theRain, South Pacific and numerous events andshows at Disneyland. Since moving to Austin, you mayhave seen Coty in Oliver!, Man of La Mancha,Sound of Music, Sweet Charity with AustinMusical Theater as well as her One Woman Show,D is for Diva. Coty wishes to thank all her friendsin Austin for their support. All her love to herparents and to Brian — my gift is my song and thisone’s for you.

Cathie Sheridan (Baker’s Wife)

Whether she is playing the Wife of the Barber orthe Wife of the Baker, Cathie is most at home in aSondheim musical! Cathie is thrilled to be back on theZilker stage for the fourth time, after playing Zeigfeld’sfavorite in The Will Rogers Follies , TheUnsinkable Molly Brown (Princess Delong) andCamelot (Lady Anne). Other stage credits include:Forbidden Broadway and NYC Overtures atCapitol City Playhouse, Mame (Gooch) and AnnieGet Your Gun (Annie Oakley) at MTAM, SweeneyTodd (Beggar Woman) at the State Theatre; TheRocky Horror Show, Six Women with BrainDeath, at Zach Scott; Annie (Sophie/Mrs. Pugh),Oliver (Old Sally), with Austin Musical Theatre. Cathiehas received numerous B.Iden Payne nominations forboth her performance and choreography work. Cathie’sfavorite shows, however, were performed and producedwith her friends, Laura, Jacki, Neal and Ray You’reGonna Love Tomorrow Stephen Sondheim-Start to Finish and Three Cheesy Women . Herfavorite productions, however, are her two wonderfullysupportive (and talented) children, Keegan and Alyssa– thanks for letting ‘mom’ keep the music.

Blake Simmon (Steward)

This is Blake’s first Zilker Summer Musical and isvery excited to finally be involved this year after“seeing so many wonderful Zilker productions.”Previously, you may have seen him in Austin MusicalTheatre’s productions of The Sound of Music orSweet Charity. Blake would like to thank hisfellow cast members and give a special thanks toKevin Archambault and Ginger Morris for giving himthis great opportunity.

Haley Smith (Rapunzel/Dance Captain)

This is Haley’s fourth Zilker Summer Musical, as shehas also appeared in South Pacific, Big River andThe Will Roger’s Follies. She will be a Junior inthe University of Texas’ Theatre and Dance Programand some of her past credits include Guys & Dolls,Pippin, Ah, Wilderness!, The Foreigner, andNot About Nightingales (Bowie Starlight Theatre),as well as Alice in Wonderland (Freddy CarnesProduction) and Once on This Island (St. Edward’sUniversity). Haley has also worked with AustinMusical Theatre in their productions of Sound ofMusic, and Sweet Charity. Haley is thrilled tobe working with such a magnificent group ofperformers, directors and musicians, designers andcrew: my cup overfloweth. Chompers!

Kellie Nicole Stellman (Lucinda)

Kellie is excited to be making her Zilker Summer Musicaldebut with Into the Woods! A Houston native, Kelliespent two years in Corpus Christi attending A&M.While she was pretending to become a MarineBiologist, Kellie performed in Grease (Sandy),A View From the Bridge, and Wilcox Manner,a new play. Realizing her newly found passion fordrama, moved to Austin where she currently attendsSt. Edwards University. Now in the final year of herBA in Theatre Arts, she enjoys costuming and acting.It’s possible you saw Kellie in last season’sPlaying For Time (Mala), on the Mary MoodyNorthen Theatre stage.

Robin Grace Thompson(Snow White/Stage Manager/Asst. Director)

Robin is very excited, well excited and scared, to beinvolved in her first Zilker Summer Musical. She justfinished stage managing Bye Bye Birdie at AustinMusical Theatre. Robin is a Junior at St. EdwardsUniversity; past productions include stage managerfor Once on This Island, Playing For Time(Zippy), and Romeo and Juliet (Juliet). It was thenever-ending heart and imagination of this talentedcast, crew and their loved ones that made thisproduction possible! The greatest prize can often lieat the end of the thorniest path.

Faith Williams (Cinderella’s Stepmother)

Faith Williams is a Senior at Southwest Texas StateUniversity pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. She hasbeen seen in many shows there, including Hair,Medea, the debut performance of Roadside, thenewest musical by The Fantastick’s writers Tom Jonesand Harvey Schmidt, and The Ruby, which toured inNew York City this past March. Other favorite rolesinclude Fiddler on the Roof (Yente), The CuriousSavage (Ethel Savage), and Hello Dolly (DollyGallagher Levi). This is Faith’s debut performance inthe Zilker Summer Musical.

Staff Biographies:Kevin P. Archambault (Director/Choreographer)

Kevin is thrilled to get a chance to work out in the parkand with such an incredibly talented cast. Kevin, analum of St. Edward’s University, just finished directing/choreographing Once on This Island there, wherehe also choreographed Little Shop of Horrors, ADay in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine,Camelot and A Funny Thing Happened on theWay to the Forum. He is also an employee andresident company member with Austin Musical Theatrewhere he directed and choreographed You’re AGood Man, Charlie Brown, Once Upon AMattress (B. Iden Payne award) and Bye ByeBirdie. Kevin would like to thank his parents and familyfor showing him happily ever after, the “kids” at AMTwho have taught him that no one is alone - truly, thecast and production team for making his finalexperience in Austin perfect and world enough for me,Cory for making it worth the journeying, Robin & Dustinfor knowing that wishes may bring problems such thatyou regret them - better that though then to never getthem and to Martha who showed me a world I’ve neverseen - you’ve made my “or” seem more.

Ginger Morris (Co-Director/Choreographer)

Ginger is thrilled to be working on the hillside the firsttime...with the most talented and dedicated group ofactors, musicians, technicians and designers in Austin.“I never thought I’d find perfection.” A UT graduate,Ginger is the Academy Manager for Austin MusicalTheatre and has produced the AMT all-youth musicalfor the past 3 summers. She grew up in South Texas,where she performed in and directed many productionswith the McAllen Parks and Recreation Department andthe Weslaco Tower Theatre. As Austin Musical Theatre’s VocalDirector, his credits include: Sound of Music, Manof La Mancha, Oliver and Oklahoma!. Michaelis also drama director at St. Stephens School, wheretheir One Act Play captured the PSIA 2002 State Title.He also runs a very busy vocal studio and teaches voicefor Concordia University and AMT. He recentlyaccepted the position as Educational Director for AustinShakespeare Festival. Michael dedicates his work onInto the Woods to his wife, Ann, and dear friendsKevin, Ginger, Bill, Cory and Tom, for all their support.

Curtis Ashby (Scenic Designer)

Curtis is excited to be back in Austin after designing,producing and coordinating the Miss Marble Falls 2002Scholarship Pageant.Curtis returns just a year afterdesigning props for Austin Musical Theatre’s summerworkshop 2001 performance of Once Upon AMattress. Simultaneous to Into the Woods, Curtisprovided AMT’s Bye Bye Birdie with yet more props.Into the Woods makes Curtis’ first Zilker SummerMusical and he is thoroughly thrilled to work with suchsupport. Curtis sends kudos to... Ginger for her supportand understanding, Kevin for being the Head Honcho,Julia for the assisted vision and creation, and far mostRobin and Dustin, for energized ambition and endlesssupport, and to Steve who made it possible!

Dennis Whitehead (Co-Musical Dir./Conductor)

Dennis returns to Zilker Theatre Productions for his thirdyear after making his debut as Tony in West SideStory. He has served as musical/vocal director fornumerous productions including You’re A Good ManCharlie Brown, Blues in the Night, YankeeDoodle, The Will Roger’s Follies, for which hereceived a Special Recognition B. Iden Payne Award,Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story,Children of Eden, Annie, Assassins, Six Womenwith Brain Death, The Fantasticks, TheGoodbye Girl, Nunsense and the world premiereof the new musical Roadside. His directing creditsinclude Children of Eden, Insides Out, Godspell,Assassins, Into the Woods, The Chairs, A FewGood Men, and Deathtrap. Dennis’ performingcredits include You’re A Good Man CharlieBrown (Schroeder), Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Andre),The Fantasticks (Matt), Man of La Mancha(Padre), Dreamgirls (M.C.), Six Degrees ofSeparation (Paul), A Map of the World(M’Bengue), as well as Austin’s own Esther’s Follies,and Comedy Sportz. Julia Parmenter (Costume Designer)

Since she was a very small child, Julia has loved topretend. This seemingly harmless yen has evolvedfrom forcing her grandparents to sit throughinnumerable living room productions (complete withperiod costumes) to her design work on Andromacheby Jean Racine and Dido and Aeneas by HenryPurcell at Los Angeles’ State Playhouse. A Californianative, Julia has been proud to call herself an Austinitefor nearly three years and is working very hard tobecome a proper Texan, whatever that means. She isfinally finishing her B.A. in Anthropology and Linguisticsat UT after which she hopes to do graduate studies insociolinguistics. Julia is extremely grateful for thisopportunity and would like to thank Kevin, Ginger andBill for their positivity and support. Big thanks also toSylvia Tate for her help and guidance and to Rita Kelsofor sharing her wealth of knowledge. Finally, to myfriends Jessica and Corey, my sweetheart, Jesse and mymother, Janet, I cannot thank y’all enough for your help,ears, shoulders, and (now) bloody fingers. Robert T. Whyburn (Lighting Design)

Mr. Whyburn has been working as a lighting designerover 15 years. Into the Woods marks Robert’s twelthsummer musical since Annie in 1990. He regularlydesigns for Austin Shakespeare Festival and Zach.Recent theatre credits include Angels in AmericaPart I and Evita for Zach. Some of his future projectsinclude Austin Shakespeare Festival’s Hamlet and hisannual contribution of Christmas lights on 37th street.Robert is a graduate of the University of Texas with aBachelor of Arts degree in Theatre. Throughout hiscareer, Robert has received numerous theatricalawards including the B. Iden Payne Award and CriticsTable Award.

Bill Mester (Sound Design)

Bill completed courses in audio and recordingtechnology in 1989 at Houston Community Collegewith a scholarship for academic achievement. Aftermoving to Austin, he worked several years in thecorporate audio-visual field for such clients as PBSand IBM. More recently, Bill has spent three yearstouring with local blues legend Doyle Bramhill.Presently, Bill has finished his fourth season at theUniversity of Texas Performing Arts Center includingboard operations for the Austin Lyric Opera and BalletAustin. This is Bill’s sixth season with Zilker TheatreProductions. He has been working throughout theyear to upgrade Zilker Theatre Productions soundequipment and build an equipment rental business.He is thankful to the Austin Community Foundation forsupporting the purchase and improvement of thesummer musical sound system.

Susan Threadgill (Production Stage Manager)

Susan has worked in Austin arts and theatre for thepast 20 years. Former production stage manager forThe University of Texas Performing Arts Center andcurrent production manager for Austin Lyric Opera, shehas been on staff for the Zilker Summer Musical sinceWest Side Story in 1992. Ms. Threadgill serves onthe Board of Trustees for the Austin ShakespeareFestival which produce at the Beverly S. Sheffield ZilkerHillside Theater.

William Sheffield (Executive Producer)

Bill Sheffield is pleased to return as Producer of theSummer Musical after a two year absence. His lastsummer musical, Big River, garnered many awards,including ACOT’s “Best Musical.” He shared an ACOTaward with Susan Threadgill for his efforts with ZTPand Austin Shakespeare Festival. Bill is currently servingas the Stage Manager for Ballet Austin. He has alsostage managed 11 of Austin Musical Theatre’sProductions over the last 6 years. He has also workedwith many other Austin arts groups including: ALO,ASO, ACB, ADE, ART, plus many others as well asserving as the production manager at the ParamountTheatre for over seven years.

Scott Schroeder (Artistic Director)

Scott is very honored and excited to return to ZilkerTheatre Productions as its first Artistic Director. As anative Austinite, Scott grew up watching the ZilkerSummer Musicals. Then in 1983, he was cast in Howto Succeed in Business.... Since then, Scott hasworked on and offstage in support of what he refers toas his theatrical home. His Zilker stage performancesinclude: Big River (King), Once Upon A Mattress(King Sextimus), Little Me (Benny Buchsbaum). Inaddition, he served on the original Board of Directorsfor the Friends of the Summer Musical, ran lightboardfor Oklahoma!, played in the orchestra/assistantdirected West Side Story (1991) and has assistedwith graphic and layout work for over twelve years.Outside of Zilker, Scott has produced successful runsof Little Shop of Horrors, Gifts of the Magi,Nunsense, Little Prince (PlayFest) with his owncompany, Broadway Austin Productions. Other regionaltheatrical credits include Zachary Scott Theater, State/Live Oak Theater, Hyde Park Theatre, Different Stages,Austin Musical Theater and Austin Lyric Opera. Recentcredits include: Madame X (Sound Design), And theWorld Goes Round (Man One), Jelly’s Last Jam(Melrose Brothers/Frank and Al), Petra’s Sueno(Sound Design) and Rockin’ Christmas Party(Stage Manager). Scott’s most recently designed sets/props and co-directed Silver Star’s production ofYou’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown here on theZilker Hillside stage.
