India – A few interesting facts

• There are 268 million illiterate people in India, unable to read, write or make a reasoned decision and almost a third of the world’s total number http://www.efareport.unesco.org/ (2007)

• Women receive on average only 1.8 years of schooling in India.

• In 75 percent of schools there is only one teacher for several classes.

• Of the 32 million children that began school in 2004, less than half will complete a compulsory 8 years of education.

Step 1: Explore

Identify impact areas and relevant

activities.

Take support/permissions from

college/ organizations if

required.

Zero down on the activities that you wish to undertake.

Step 2: Communicate the idea

Pitch in your ideas through

Microsoft workshops and

your STCs

Associate with the other students’ councils.

Publicize through posters, fliers, Facebook etc.

Step 3: Kick start

Launch with an event and register

interested participants.

Allot work through effective team building.

Mail back an official letter confirming initiation of

“YuvaMSP_<your college>” Chapter.

Step 3: Sustain & Replicate

Carry out projects like:

1. Teaching at least 20 students per person for 2 hours /week.

2. Hold events involving random acts

of kindness in any form at least once a

month.

3. Collaborate with other MSPs in your

city.

Sustain by:

1.Motivating volunteers.

2. Keeping in touch with your regional

leads through monthly reports.

3. Maintaining a Facebook group

named YuvaMSP_<your city>

Replicate successful projects through
