B. Following directions. The students should be able to make an appropriate response to the following directions. * Go straight* Turn left. * Turn right. * Go past the (classroom) * Stop.

Note: * This can be taken after the students have been introduced to Unit 3. * The teacher must preteach and have some practice lessons before assessing. * Assessing this unit can be done by using the following. Using the map in this file by having the students follow directions by using a counter or coin. Drawing pictures on the concrete and asking students to follow the instructions. Setting up the classroom with the names of school buildings on the desks. Using one of the maps in the textbook, page 22 or page 23. * Try to keep it simple so that students can achieve. * Keep it to vocabulary that they know such as school buildings. (the map here introduces the word 'path'.)* The teacher can make a large map by using graphics provided and blowing up the size. * To achieve, the students must be able to reach two different destinations by following the directions given.eg. You are on Field 1. You are at the classrooms. Go down Path 1 . Go down Path 2 Turn right onto Path 3. Go straight on. Go past the canteenGo past the office. Turn right onto Path 2. Turn right onto Path 5. The classrooms are on your left. The school hall is on your right. * The students only have to follow the instructions, they do not have to give instructions. * To achieve, the students must either look at the final destination, or else place their counter on it.

Creative Works. Oral Assessment Task Year 2 Band 3 Able to listen to and follow simple instructions to produce creative works.

Note: The students will make a greetings card. The teacher can change the messages to suit the class.

Materials: Paper Pencil Coloured pencils.

Instructions: During the course of the lesson, the teacher will observe the students noting, if the child can follow without following others or without the use of demonstration. For those students who are having difficulty, the teacher can assist individual students as he / she gives the instructions. These students do not achieve. The teacher may not use BM. Before starting:Write the words / phrases / sentences on the board so they can copy. Ensure that the students have the materials on their table.

The teacher gives the following instructions:

1.Take your paper. 2.Write (Happy Birthday) on the cover / front page. 3.Make it big. 4.Draw a picture of a (birthday cake) .5.Open the card. 6. Copy 'Dear' .7.Write the name of your friend. 8.Copy the greeting. 9. Copy ' Love from' 10. Write your name. 11. Colour your picture. Note: For number 4 can say; Draw a birthday picture.
