Celebrity Bowling ClassicFormer Phillies centerfielder Garry Maddox, and businessman and philanthropist Drew Katz share a strong commitment to giving back to their communities. Garry and Drew both donate time and resources to numerous causes, and each has his own charity to further their philanthropic work: Compete 360 and The Rachel & Drew Katz Foundation.

More than just a chance to knock down pins and have a good time, the Bowling Classic is the primary fundraising vehicle for Garry's and Drew's charities. Since 2001, the event has raised more than $4.5 million for these two organizations that are positively impacting lives throughout our communities.

Compete 360 was founded by Garry Maddox and supports the education and development of urban youth through DT Philly, a K-12 design thinking initiative that fosters challenging learning experiences rooted in creative problem solving.

In the 1970s, shortly after being traded from the Giants to the Phillies, Garry responded to a request to visit a child at a local hospital. Volunteering his time soon turned into a commitment to raising funds, and the Celebrity Bowling Classic was born.

Drew attended Garry’s first Bowling Classics as a young fan, and in 2001 he joined Garry as co-host, significantly expanding the scope and impact of this long-standing charity fundraiser.

The Bowling Classic’s tradition of fun and philanthropy continues on November 4 with an afternoon of good cheer and lighthearted competition at 30 Strikes, the region's only 80-lane bowling center.
