8. Make sure you deliver on quality services and products as this will improve your track record and right standing with the department and by extension, give a proper face to small businesses in general.

Are you a supplier and intend to do business with the government? Good news is, you do not have to physically go to government offices and be in long queues for hours to transact business. More so, you do not need "connections" to get a government tender, as long as you have the required qualifications, you can go for IFMIS self-registration.

In order to position your entity to get tenders it is important to play by these rules: Rule 1: Make sure your business is registered, either as a sole proprietorship, partnership, limited company or a cooperative. Rule 2: Obtain a PIN and tax compliance exemption certificate for the business from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
