Welcome to the Spring edition of What’s On in Ayrshire Magazine the first of five throughout the year. This edition will cover a selection of events during the months of March and April. There are farmers markets, theatre shows, craft fairs, horse racing including the Scottish National and lots of Easter events to keep the kids entertained, hosted by The National Trust For Scotland at Culzean Castle and The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.

Also inside this issue there are special offers from local businesses. The Rupee Room in Ayr are offering OAP’s 20% off their total food bill. Using photographs, maps and documents our new exhibition at the museum traces aspects of the Valley’s fortunes. Items displayed include the 1803 enrolment register of the napoleonic-era Loyal Dalmellington Volunteers and original notebooks by the local shopkeeper and philanthropist John Gaa, who set up the reading room in 1834. Through this contact with contemporary Japan he learns something essential to the ancient art of Noh. Flower, bird, wind, moon is a Japanese saying which means “observe nature and discover yourself”.
