The Brammer story

1920H. Brammer and Company Limited was founded with £3,000 of capital, by Harry Brammer.

1950sShares were offered to the public in 1954 and the company grows to over 150 employees.Brammer belting was being sold as far afield as Fiji.

1960sThe Brammer group of companies employs 700 people and trades in more than sixty overseas markets. In 1969, Brammer acquires Bearing Service Limited (BSL).

1970s The company name changes to Brammer plc and there are now 1,475 employees. Brammer’s annual profits rise to over £2 million by 1975.

1980sExpansion continues in the 1980s with significant acquisitions. In 1984, the Brammer Group earnings pushed through the £10 million barrier.

1990sThe red genie is first used in 1990. Then Brammer prioritises growth in Europe with acquisitions in France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. The Insite™ programme is introduced in 1999.
